OK, worth a look
There are a lot of grooves, whether it is the hot air balloon liftoff or the first few distant scenes, the green screen is very strong, the saturation is too high, and it feels a bit like a Disney cartoon. Nearly flamboyant. But after the first half an hour, this feeling basically disappears.
The true story is the adventure of two men in the sky. This time I have no problem with changing it to a man and a woman. Although the status of women in England was not high in the mid-19th century, there were very few women who were so lively and popular. few. But it is normal to repeat old sayings and old dramas. Joining the heroine not only injects new vitality, adds emotional line and CP feeling, but also caters to the most popular feminism at the moment, which is not unwise. What's more, the female hot air balloon pilot was not fabricated out of thin air. It is said that she referred to a female hot air balloon pilot in France at the same time. (A random guess, the heroine's name is Amelia may be a tribute to the famous American pilot Amelia Earhart)
But the political correctness in other places is too much. Let’s not mention that the second male lead, the good friend and good partner of the male protagonist James, is of Indian descent. What happened to the frequent black ladies and black gentlemen? 2020 is clearly an era of (trying to be) egalitarian, but isn't there a kind of absurdity of Guan Gong and Qin Qiong when you deliberately add these elements to the 1860s?
The plot is not too bad, the hot air balloon scene is small, and the room for play is also small. The constant flashback plays the role of stripping the cocoon and supplementing the plot, and it also lays the foundation for the final danger.
I have to complain about the little freckled character James, who is just a pig teammate, arrogant, incompetent, stubborn, and aggressive. He is a scientist who doesn't believe in science. He neither wears antifreeze clothes nor listens to the heroine's words and slowly declines. slept most of the day.
Amelia was suffering alone under his background, climbing up and down again, and almost wiped out the whole group by accident. Fortunately, James woke up at the last minute, and after that, he made frequent moves to avoid danger, which was a deliberate balance.
It may be that the screenwriter wants to highlight the heroine's writing on purpose, and then promote feminism, but such a trick is really not wise, but it has a negative effect on both people and characters.
Actually, I didn't have any expectations for this film. I went to the cinema to watch it purely for the fun of a few friends + watching these two couples. I didn't expect the effect to be exciting enough and the plot not to be empty. The last half hour was wonderful, and I even felt a little emotional at the end. and moved. Sure enough, lower expectations are still pleasantly surprised.
Even if the film is a little flawed, it still touches me. Maybe it's because the adventure itself is great and fatally appealing, or maybe it's back to the cliché: the hymn of man is the hymn of courage.
