The sense of joy is not enough, and it is more than rigid. Polanski compresses the plot and then compresses it to only two hours. However, condensing does not mean the essence, but eliminating the essence of the original work, so that I don't see the sadness and touchingness of the original work before, and then I don't see the funnyness of the original work. The joy and warmth of human affection are left, and there are only some mindless performances left, like a lame and clumsy play. I also want to mention Ben Kingsley. I didn't recognize him until I watched the film. I have to say that the makeup and acting skills are brilliant...
All in all, this film is extremely bad, ruining the classics in my mind, and the identification is complete.

Oliver Twist quotes

  • Fagin: Do you know what I consider the greatest sin in the world, my dear? Ingratitude. That's what you're guilty of. Ingratitude.

  • Fagin: You're like yourself tonight, Bill.

[puts his hand on Bill's shoulder]

    Fagin: Quite like yourself.

Bill Sykes: Well I don't feel like myself when you lay that wicked old claw on my shoulder, so take it away!
