Returning from the church on Christmas Eve, I sat on the sofa and watched the film slowly. I had a shallow impression of Dickens' original work, and even forgot the finale of Oliver.
It is also an exploration and presentation, praising and criticizing the humanity of different people. But Polanski's cleverness is to outline a little bit of gray in the middle of black and white. With Oliver's pure insistence, Bill was brutally ravaged, and Fagin, who was obviously a villain but always had a warm expression, was between the two, making it more real and moving.
In the greedy and selfish nature, there is an occasional glimmer of light, which makes people sigh.
After all, it was he who gave the hungry street children a bowl of unclean rice and a room that could only accommodate them so that they could survive.
Survival is the first priority, for those street kids.
