youth, regret, love

It's one of my favorite romance movies, even though I'm only seeing it in 2021.

There is one detail in the film that is particularly touching. The first time Paul and Ellie saw a train chase scene, I actually expected that there would be a train chase scene in the future. But I never thought that even such a routine drama could make me cry.

"Midnight in Barcelona" once said, "The most romantic is the failed love". Whether it's Paul and Aster's love, Aster and Ellie's, or Paul and Ellie's love is the same. The scene that touched my heart the most in the film was Ellie and Aster chatting on the side of the road. Ellie pushed the bicycle and slowly left Aster, but suddenly turned around, rushed in front of Aster, and kissed her deeply.

In fact, it seems that there is still a lot to say, but my emotions are still trapped in the story of the film and can't be pulled out. Let’s write this much first, and if there’s still a lot to express in the future, then I’ll write another one.

The Half of It quotes

  • [Ellie, the true author of many classmate assignments turned in, comes up to Mrs. Geselschap's front desk to turn in her own assignment]

Mrs. Geselschap: Six different takes on Plato. Impressive.

Ellie Chu: [maintaining the pretense] Just the one.

Mrs. Geselschap: That's what I tell the bartender.

Ellie Chu: How come you never turn me in?

Mrs. Geselschap: And have to read the actual essays they'd write?

  • Ellie Chu: I'm Ellie Chu.

Aster Flores: Yes, I know. You've only been playing my dad's services every Sunday for, like, four years. You're his favorite heathen. He can't handle mediocre accompanists, even if they ARE saved.
