Every time I watch a Bergman movie, I feel like I have experienced a heavy baptism, and now I don't feel like going to lunch after watching it. A tragic life is not about tragic and solemn, but about consumption and silence. Unhappiness, estrangement, jealousy, sickness and death, indifference are normal and can be explained, it is terrible. After watching such a film, it would be a relief to flip through ancient Greek tragedies or Homer's epics. Every time Liv Ullmann touches his own or someone else's face and lips with his hands, it makes one shudder.
