So far, the most impressive scene is that the married woman Maria seduces the doctor, but the latter is unmoved, and once called the former to the mirror, and compares Maria's changes before and after.     The fear I felt every time I re-watched it deepened. Bergman's analysis is almost cruel, but the final "perfect" retrospective is even more chilling, especially when he realizes that the only selfless maid, Anna, is just a fragment of the same three sisters.
