The legend of the scriptures

The story of a legendary book: Brandon, the little painter, seeks the help of the elves in the forest, secretly draws the scriptures in the high-walled monastery, escapes wisely when the Vikings attack, and finishes the scriptures. Finally returned. The whole play is commendable for its bright and bright, hand-painted pictures and the ethereal singing in Irish national style, which is eye-catching and reminiscent of the world of old Miyazaki. But there is a problem with the logic of the plot: Abbot Albert advocates building high walls, storing grain widely, and fighting Vikings pragmatically. However, compared with another wave of monks who focused on the painting of the Kell scriptures, the dean obviously acted as a negative teaching material. What the plot wants to tell us seems to be: building a city to resist the enemy is futile, and only devoting yourself to the great scripture cause, to obtain the salvation of the soul. But the problem is that the meaning of "soul redemption" has been interpreted as "visiting God" - the monastery was besieged, the souls were devastated, and the monks walked on the road of escape as always. And the art treasure "The Book of Kells", which the painter painstakingly sculpted, is nothing more than a gorgeous Christian illustration. In short, there are flaws in the value judgment of the play, at least one should not despise the monastery's waste of effort. After all, there is nothing wrong with providing shelter for life. Even if you hit a stone with an egg, it is still commendable, and there is no other way. As for the drawing of the Book of Kells, perhaps only the pious apostles with the spirit of martyrdom can appreciate its greatness and immortality.

The picture is fresh and simple but not simple. Religious movies don't appeal to me enough. But the story of the elf and the little boy is still very interesting.
