The metaphors in the Secret of the Book of Kells are not many and easy to guess. My feelings are:
1. In contrast to the lively Irish music, there is a tense and depressing atmosphere, the Viking pirates are gradually approaching, and the abbot is building the city wall to defend against the enemy all day long. I agree with the point mentioned many times in the film, the general idea is: if history is an old man, he sees human beings living in darkness and fear. What is the use of faith, that is to bring a ray of light and hope to the painful and dark life of human beings.
2. Forest elves are a metaphor for nature. People generally respect nature, and bad people cannot violate the laws of nature. Elves are also afraid of "pain", but suffering is inevitable, and even nature cannot be spared. Religion also needs to study natural disasters to gain wisdom. However, even if the relationship between man and nature is handled well, the law of the jungle cannot be won.
3. Barbarians can burn down their homes, slaughter people, and rob them of their belongings, but they cannot destroy their faith.
4. Although there are many priests, there are not many people who can really understand the essence. Most of them were superstitious at first. It was rumored that the sages had three eyes, but later they found out that it was a crystal ball, which also showed that ideas need to be spread.. ....
5. To add: the Vikings can also be considered the greed and tyranny of human beings, and the monastery is our spiritual tower, from a certain perspective, a person is in the inner struggle, learning and close to right view It is a kind of self-salvation.
