Some people say that Ivan's childhood is a broken childhood, not as quiet and beautiful as ordinary children's childhood, in fact, his childhood is more meaningful and fulfilling than most of us, he is even just a child! ~ There are freckles and a pair of blue eyes on the young face. In the picture are barren and sparse trees in the sand, a tin bucket of cool spring water and mother's bright smile wiping away sweat. Tarkovsky put him in a messy and huge circle of reeds, shuttled between the running water and the enemy's eyeliner, in fact, he was never found. He still had beautiful blond hair on his muddy head, and little Ivan was not very good-natured, which was what he needed for his characterization.

Ivan's Childhood quotes

  • Ivan's Mother: If a well is really deep, you can see a star down there even in the middle of a sunny day.

  • Ivan: Is he a Fritz too?

Galtsev: He's either a German doctor or writer.

Ivan: They have no writers. I saw them burning books in a square. They poured gasoline on them and set them on fire. There was soot in the air for a week.
