The movie just uses the male protagonist's seemingly social disorder to secretly tell some real problems in the real adult society. Instead of trying to say what's wrong with the male lead. Quite the opposite. Just like the children in the emperor's new clothes are used as a metaphor for some problems in adult society in the movie.
For example, the male protagonist suggested that the black uncle call his former lover and say it directly. Isn't it the smartest and most efficient way to solve a problem?
So the story just wants to borrow the male protagonist to speak. Did you see it?
