Because of you, I became a better me

I really like Beth's mother's words "Feeling loved is very important, but..., loving, my precious girl--that's the necessity."

I am touched by Adam and Beth again and again. Adam is always direct - honest and hurtful. He can't see or understand your emotions, your pain. He even asks how you want him to comfort you when you're sad, but his embrace is the purest. He will not please you, he will only try to bring you happiness in his own way, although these ways are a little boring and a little naive, but what you gain is full of warmth. Beth has always been so accommodating, understanding that he is uncomfortable eating in crowded places; ordering him the macaroni and cheese he knows best; keeping him out of trouble by following his every move at friend gatherings; even when her dad was on the verge of imprisonment He took the trouble to coach him in interviews; even when Adam made a fuss and cursed her father in a breakdown, she still didn't give up being with him.

Yet we all long to be loved so that we can love with ease. What women long for is a tree that can shelter them from the wind and rain, not a child. The kind that is inspired by pity, is it motherhood or love? How can this kind of compassionate love last?

But Beth loves Adam. She has no doubts, just a little lack of self-confidence. What she hopes is that Adam can really understand her feelings from the bottom of her heart and tell her that his need and dependence on her is love. Her letting go is a bet, a commitment and uncompromising love.

I'd like to believe that Adam's transformation was for Beth: he tried to smile at others, he tried to help others, he tried to communicate more with the outside world, all of which are bits and pieces that hopefully the next time Beth meets himself in sunny California, See a better me, a better me who is more worthy of her love.

"Whether we end up as lovers or as friends,
you will always be the most special
Because, in your eyes,
I see a better me.
Because of you,
I become a better me.
For you,
I strive to be a...better me."
