The film tells the story of a French magician's declining and dull life. In order to make a living, he traveled around looking for performance opportunities. With the changes of the times, various emerging stage performances have attracted the attention of the audience, and the old-fashioned art form of magic has gradually been neglected by people. During a show celebrating the islanders' access to electric lights, he meets a little girl who thinks the magician really has magic and starts living with him.
