Some people's lives are destined to be legends, while others are tragic. While Joe's books and documentaries are selling well, Simon faces unanimous condemnation for cutting the ropes of his companions, sending an injured Joe off a cliff. Seeing the old, bald Simon in the documentary, it's hard to believe that he is four years younger than Qiao. In fact, there was nothing wrong with cutting the rope. His mistake was that he did not go down to confirm Joe's death, and that he let Joe slide down too fast and too far, beyond his sight. Mistakes like this were trivial for a 21-year-old boy with little climbing experience, but they were the ones that cost him his life.
