I love this version of the adaptation, the tones are comfortable, not to mention the addition of Charles Dance and Love Egg! This version is the one I've watched the most in the series (and therefore, the 2016 Witness for the Prosecution Witnesses made me very disappointed and angry with the director).

The beginning full of suspense: a strange job application in the SOHO area, the mysterious man recorded a vinyl record for the mysterious "drama"; at the same time, he also introduced ten people to a limited extent (especially the first hiccups and maids) , and the two "protagonists", teacher and hunter).
At mealtime, the maids and servants caught up with the time to play the record, and the record was an accusation against these ten people. Ten people are guilty of "angry" to justify their innocence, but what they insert is the scene of their illegal deeds.

The priestess gained the strength of her faith and regained her arrogance and serenity; the doctor and the teacher began to get nervous (the two later fought tit-for-tat): the teacher discovered the disappearance of the figurine, and the doctor chose to join forces with the judge.
First, it was suspected that the lunatic UN Owen was hiding on the island. After the death of the servant, the general and the priestess, several people suspected that the murderer was among the few people who formulated the life-saving rule of "either collectively or individually". A few people with a mental breakdown began to play vinyl and regarded the trial as a carnival, and the teacher and the hunter also deepened their already hazy feelings (and were discovered and suspected by the detective).
The teacher went upstairs, but was struck by her own fantasy—the child she couldn’t save, she was shocked, and the judge who was alone was shot to death when several people rescued her.
Afterwards, the teacher and hunter got together, the doctor fled at night, the three of them slipped away in the early morning, and the detective died (I never saw how he died). The male and female protagonists were at odds with each other. The teacher, excited, shot and killed the hunter, and then walked back to the room, ready to hang himself.
When the door opened, she thought it was the phantom of her longing lover, but it was UN Owen who appeared.
The "innocent" who changed his face to survive; UN Owen's simple dialogue and description, inorganic eyes, calm as if there was nothing, but full of suppressed pleasure. I couldn't help but smile on this side of the screen.
The heroine's performance was amazing! The layers are clear, especially the penultimate act! At the beginning, a decent man with embarrassment and self-respect, panic, alertness and nervousness when he discovered that the murder was related to nursery rhymes and the disappearance of the soldier statue, guilt in the face of the old master's gratitude, and then the love for the hunter in the desperate situation. And the tranquility of dying calmly at last. Completely portrayed as normal people! This is a harmless British woman.
until the last scene. When she knew that she was not the only one left, that her crimes would be exposed and even become a scapegoat on the island, she showed her true face, full of desire for survival, madness, cunning, hideousness, temptation...
