This poem almost runs through the whole story, adding a bit of mystery and making people want to watch it all the time. The contrast between the slightly dark and "gentleman" image in British society is really attractive to me and I really I have a good impression of those works that I haven't read the original but have a lot of doubts about movies or TV. Maybe one day I will go to see the original.
