Yeti Adventures: A Children's Film Full of Metaphors

I took my children to watch the animated movie "The Snow Monster Adventure" on the weekend. I thought it was a Hollywood-style popcorn cartoon that was warm and family-friendly. Unexpectedly, after watching it, I found that the whole film is full of strong metaphors.

Children may not have much conception of this, but for adults, some of the words spoken through the mouth of the snow monster in the film do need to be carefully thought out.

There are a lot of spoilers in the comment section below. For those who haven’t seen the film and don’t want spoilers, please stop below the dividing line.

-------------------------------------Dividing line----------- --------------------------

1. Every snow monster is creating clouds unknowingly

Yeti has a peculiar explanation for its environment and what it does, such as calling the snail sun by head-banging the clock, waking up the yeti to start the day's work: turning huge gears, making ice balls, and throwing ice balls into the abyss...

The snow monsters live on the top of the high mountain, and there is a thick cloud layer under their feet, which isolates the communication between the top and the bottom of the mountain.

In the first half of the film, whether it is the snow monsters living on the mountain or the humans living at the foot of the mountain, or the audience in front of the film, they will think that the clouds are naturally generated.

But in the second half of the film, after the village chief's explanation, everyone realized that the seemingly meaningless snow monster's day's work is actually a thick cloud layer isolated by the maker.

And the truth of the whole world is unknowingly covered up in the seemingly unrelated work of each snow monster.

2. Public opinion is easily guided

After Snowman Migo discovers the secrets beneath the clouds, with a living littlefoot - a human. Caused cognitive confusion among the Yeti population.

The law that the Yeti abides by--Shi Lu received a great impact. However, in the face of the challenge of authority, the owner, maker, and defender of the stone law, the village chief of the Snow Monster Village was not at all afraid. .

Let Mi Guo admit in front of many snow monsters that what he brought back is not a little foot monster at all, but a mutated little yak. Facing Mi Guo's apprehension, the village chief said bluntly: You don't know how easy they are to deceive!

Moreover, Mi Guo faced the doubts of his good friends at the scene, and directly drew inferences from one case, and used the practice of "splashing dirty water and slandering the character" to eliminate the prestige of the doubters.

This paragraph can be said to be a very satirical public opinion.

3. For the stone law, should we blindly obey or seek the truth?

The stone law passed down by the snow monsters from generation to generation is regarded by the snow monsters as a universal truth, a creed that must be followed in life and work, and the stone law cannot be wrong.

If you have doubts about Shilu when you join the Yeti, the usual practice is to take a deep breath, then calmly suppress the doubts, and then work. But there are always some snow monsters who have always been suspicious, and among these people there is even the daughter of the village chief.

However, these snow monsters who seek the truth are often rejected by everyone in the name of "madman" and "sick" in the snow monster group. Even their trusted partners were once used by the village chief, who continued to stigmatize them in public.

Then in the actual public and life, we encounter the problem of " everything is right! " Should we blindly obey it? Or seek the truth in the name of a lunatic?

4. The point of view of only click-through rate theory has seriously affected the mentality of media people

The protagonist in the film is a media person, but in the Internet age, all products take eye-catching as the first element. All products are also based on whether there are click-through rates, ratings, and traffic.

The protagonist just ventured to the Himalayas to look for a snowman because the program he was doing had no traffic, and even once did not hesitate to use fakes to gain eyeballs and ratings.

How relevant is this to the current status of the domestic media circle?

We media are basically headline parties, hot searches are always entertainment stars, and the words and works that are really attentive have been washed and copied by a large number of manuscripts...

The current state of the media industry, where traffic is king, Americans all know has reached the point where regulation is urgently needed.

So: this is a children's cartoon full of metaphors. What the children see is the cute snow monster and the human finally shaking hands and becoming good friends. But what adults see is what lies behind the warm and harmonious cartoon.

So although this animation has flaws, it is already very good overall.

Recommendation index: four stars ★★★★☆
