Everyone knows that Keanu Reeves and Chen Hu met during the filming of The Matrix, and Chen Hu was the action director and Keanu's coach. Out of his passion for Chinese martial arts, Keanu helped Chen Hu film the Tai Chi Man. It can be said that from the writing of the original script to the later finding of investors and Chinese partners, Keanu was basically exerting his own abilities, so that this film had the opportunity to become a reality from conception. For Chen Hu, the film made him the protagonist, a chance to showcase Chinese martial arts on the big screen. For Keanu, the film fulfilled his passion for Chinese culture and showed the Tai Chi he understood in his heart. As a kung fu movie, this movie is undoubtedly excellent. It shows what tai chi should look like in actual combat, not the performative, dance-like slow-moving tai chi of traditional thinking. The opponents arranged for Tai Chi in the film include traditional martial arts Nanquan, mma, mixed martial arts, taekwondo boxing, golden bell cover (one dragon), Mongolian Boke, Sanda, crane boxing, Sangboban Casira, etc., especially the fight with the master played by Yu Hai. The play is wonderful. The differences in various genres make it enjoyable to watch, and feel that Chinese martial arts is very powerful. The qigong wave at the end is ridiculous, but killing a foreigner in Beijing is equally ridiculous. With the fact that Beijing is surrounded by heavy smog at the end of the credits, it makes people think that this may be Keanu's intentional act. Beijing that can't be seen clearly, life that can't be seen clearly. Although the plot is illogical at the end, Keanu finally made it clear with a movie that Tai Chi, you have me, I have you, just like Keanu's clothes inexplicably worn on Chen Hu in the film On the body, the depth of love is the cut of hatred.
So, for kung fu movies, it’s better to just watch the fights, the plot and so on pass by, and the box office fiasco may have been expected by Keanu, who cares, Keanu’s career has always been self-willed, just do what you like, who Care to make money or not? He is not a poor man. Wouldn't it be great to make a Chinese Kung Fu fight against the world?

Man of Tai Chi quotes

  • Female Announcer: A fine line separates a fighter from a warrior. One is motivated by reason, the other, by purpose.

  • Master Yang: You must meditate.

    'Tiger' Chen Lin Hu: Why?

Master Yang: To clear your mind, guide your Chi and gain control.

'Tiger' Chen Lin Hu: I have control.

Master Yang: No, you have power not control.

'Tiger' Chen Lin Hu: Power is control.

Master Yang: That is an illusion.

'Tiger' Chen Lin Hu: It is not an illusion... it's reality. I live in it, you don't. What I learn here I can't use out there.

Master Yang: How can you use what you have not yet learned? Only when you've dispelled these illusions, will you find your way again.
