Pseudo-literary youth guide

From the very beginning of the movie, it taught us that when we see a thief walking leisurely on the street with his clothes in his hands, don’t just call out, “Hey!” to remind him to run, but call out, “A thief!” Other people's attention, or quietly ran up to catch the thief. (laugh)

Jesse: A young literary man who is reading a book in his hand when visiting bookstores, walking on the street, sitting at home, all the time. Majoring in English and minoring in History. Enjoy and miss life on campus, not very much in the world of mature people who have to make choices. At the party, Jesse and Zby agreed to have coffee the next day, showing the age gap. Jesse made the offer in earnest, and in Zby's day, it was polite to say we should have a coffee sometime.

In the process of communicating with Zby's letters, Jesse seems to have found his soul mate. Surprise and disbelief come over Jesse when she finds out that Zibby is reading a vampire novel. Zby retorted Jesse that if he hadn't read vampire novels, he wouldn't have the right to question such novels. Jesse gave up the time he spent with Zibby, ignorant of the current affairs, and plunged into the reading of vampire novels. Jesse, who felt ashamed, even put a magazine over the novel, for fear of being seen reading vampire novels. (The most important thing for young literary and artistic people is style, lol). When Zibby proposed to develop a further relationship with him, Jesse rushed to the toilet to wash her face, suddenly realized that this was wrong, explained the reason to Ziby, then turned and left Ziby dormitory.

Jesse, who was drinking at a bar, met his favorite professor at the university. After the love of fish and water, he was immediately kicked out of bed by the professor, and he didn't even have a chance to catch his breath. On this evening, Jesse took the worst class of his life, and the image of the best professor of English romance literature was completely shattered in Jesse's heart.

Later in the bookstore, Jesse met Anna, who likes to read like him. They have the same hobbies and the same confusion. They taste life in the book, but occupy too much life that should be in reality. They are the best for each other.

Zby: A sophomore drama student, eager to become mature and want to advance the process of life faster. When Zibby saw Jesse, she seemed to have found someone who could help her complete her life experience faster. Zby took the initiative to hold Jesse's hand, hugged Jesse, burned a CD to Jesse, and asked Jesse to tell her what she heard by writing a letter, so as to keep in touch and promote the relationship between the two. When she sees Jesse's reaction to helping her go from girl to woman, she realizes that she may be in too much of a rush. The enjoyment process is actually great, and life is not just about catching up.

Pete: After 19, I always felt like I was 19. It's the world's dirty secret that no one feels like an adult. I thought I was old enough to retire, but I regretted it after I resigned. He felt like a criminal on parole, but he couldn't adjust to life outside. He wanted to sin again and go back to familiar places. He has been a professor at a university all his life, and he can no longer leave this place. Any place that cannot be left is a prison.

This movie seems to be a collection of ideas of all literary youth, but I like it very much, even if I am just a pseudo-literary youth. (laugh)

Liberal Arts quotes

  • Jesse Fisher: I think one of the things I loved the most about being here was the feeling that anything was possible. It's just infinite choices ahead of you. You'd get out of school, and anything could happen. And then you do get out, and... life happens, you know'? Decisions get made. And then all those many choices you had in front of you are no longer really there. At a certain point, you just got to go, "Oh, I guess this is new its going down." And there's just something a little depressing about that.

  • Nat: Is your name... Ethan?

    Jesse Fisher: No, why?

Nat: You look like an Ethan to me.

Jesse Fisher: My name's not Ethan.

Nat: How cool would that be, if that was your name and I just, like, knew it?

    [Jesse shrugs]

Nat: Are you a student here?

Jesse Fisher: Uh, no, but thank you for thinking that. You?

Nat: Nah, man. Just here visiting a buddy of mine. It's not a bad place to kill a little time, huh? I'm Nat.

    Jesse Fisher: I'm Jesse.

Nat: Do you hear that music, Ethan?
