Subjective world--Confession is a very subjective thing

Although "Confession" may seem gloomy and cruel, it is an avant-garde film. But I feel more that the director is maintaining a balance, not emphasizing the rationality of the Avengers, nor showing excessive forgiveness for the so-called "tragic experience" of the perpetrators, not emphasizing that we usually hold the canon. Both love and tolerance, and do not show that they should retaliate with resentment.
Instead of giving a single answer, it puts us in a state of entanglement.

Because there is no answer at all.
The answer is simply something each of us draws from our own perspective and experience.

[Forgiveness and sarcasm]

Mizuki understands Shuya: "He just wants to get his mother's attention, he is too lonely." The
subtext is: he did this for a reason, he is also a poor victim, he is just a child left out by his parents, he should be forgive.
But just as Mizuki showed her understanding, what crossed it was the scene where she was killed by Shuya.
He was pitiful, but you were killed by him. Your death was so sudden. It was neither his plan to attract the attention of his mother, nor was it an impulsive accident. Although you did not participate in the original sanctions, you still died.
Calm and clear thump and thump until finally dismembered and put in the fridge. It's not a pity that you ended the curtain in a cruel way, and the other party just felt tired of playing with your stupid toy.
You think you know him, you feel sorry for him, but behind your "insignificant" death, it becomes ironic.

"He just wants to get his mother's attention, he's too lonely"
Moriguchi-sensei laughed disdainfully.
On the way to leave, we still couldn't help crying, "She is regretting it, as a mother of a child", we must think so.
We must think this way, although Shuzai is hateful, it was caused by the misfortune of the family. He is also very poor.

"BAKA" Moriguchi, the
idiot
, stood up again and said sarcastically.

Smartly interpret others and get the answers you want
Pity the "weak" with a noble attitude, and redeem the hearts of others with self-righteousness
.
BAKA

[Subjective World]

This scene appears many times in the movie.
I thought Shuya would jump off the building in fear, just
kidding.
Xiu Zai raised his arms and shouted cherish life,
joking.
Starting now is the first step in your rebirth, just
kidding.

The front is the appearance, the back is the confession, no one can know what others think.
Confession is a very subjective thing. The whole film uses the confessions of different people and narration from different perspectives, which presents us with a multi-subjective layered self-world.
From almost every point of view, the narrator of the confession is calm and intelligent, has insight into the world, and is the savior of the world. It is others who feel naive and pitiful, it is others who are at fault, and it is myself who is especially innocent.

Whenever we are moved by a certain confession and immersed in a story from a certain perspective, another confession inserted in time will ruthlessly overthrow the former.
There is more to it than the individual perspective.
Xiuya is not afraid of AIDS, Mizuki is not the good child in Terada's eyes, Naoki is not as fragile as you think, and mother has not forgotten you.

[Right and Wrong]
The director constantly interrupts the reorganization with different subjective perspectives, revising the emotions reflected in our minds, so that we can't distinguish between justice and sin, pitiful horror, right and wrong.
Or, deliberately prevent us from distinguishing right from wrong.

In Shuya's suicide note, he said, "In order not to be influenced by the stereotyped image of the media, I want to make a confession myself." Secretly gave the film another question.
We are accustomed to use our own perspective to interpret, to use our own perspective to judge right and wrong, to find the only answer, and to let ourselves be relieved in the complicated world.
So when these perspectives are put together in front of us outsiders, we are confused and tangled, because we cannot find the right and wrong answers with our inherent thinking.
It seems that at the end, when we sighed at the "forgiveness" of Mr. Moriguchi's love and hate, and thought that there was an end, and when the new students began, the sentence "just kidding" in the shady scene brought us back to the entanglement.

Confessions quotes

  • Shuya Watanabe: Nobody taught me that killing people was wrong. Where other kids got read picture books and fairy tales, my mom taught me Ohm's Law and Norton's theorum. She only ever talked about electronics.

  • Yuko Moriguchi: This is my revenge. I have plunged you into the depths of hell. This is the first step towards your redemption... just kidding.
