It describes the story after the war, the background is World War II, and there is no big scene of war in the whole process. The calm narrative, the waves that give people may be the explosions of each thunder. With every explosion, at least one teenager leaves the world.
It's an unpopular history, Denmark and Germany. Germany lost WWII. Denmark, which was bullied by Germany in World War II, started a frantic revenge, taking young German prisoners to mine mines, without advanced equipment and systematic training. Whether this approach is right or not is debated.
But compared to flesh-and-blood war films such as Saving Private Ryan, Minefield is equally heart-wrenching in its calm.
The director is Danish.
