minefield of life

How much human death does it take to effectively stop wars and killings?

It seems that there is no answer yet. Human beings will always find various excuses to start wars or kill each other for their own selfishness. In addition to being shocking, whether we can learn from it or not, we may be able to find the answer from this film. Martin Zanrivert's "Flesh and Blood" (also translated as "Minefield" 2016), in a humanitarian spirit, eloquently explains the endless pain and destruction brought about by war, especially the harm to people's hearts. Just like what happened at Auschwitz, even though that world war by demons is over.

This is what makes the movie so valuable. Although the war is gradually passing away, the pain left by the war on this earth seems to have just begun, and it has always existed in its unique way and object like a chronic disease. Landmines can be regarded as the most terrifying conventional weapons in terms of harm to human beings other than nuclear weapons and biochemical weapons. The key is its concealment and persistence, which makes it hard to prevent. The peculiar sturdiness lies quietly. Demining itself is a high-risk operation with unpredictable risks at any time.

As far as the real world is concerned, the borders between Syria and Israel, Lebanon and Israel, the territory of Cambodia, and the border between China and Vietnam are all hotspots with the most landmines left over from war, and the most densely arranged landmines are of course the border between North Korea and South Korea. It is said that there are as many as thousands of landmines. Ten thousand, every year flooding will have various types of mines of all ages rushing out and flowing into the river, causing incalculable impact on the safety of the people. So far, the demining work on the Sino-Vietnamese border has continued.
, it can be seen that the hidden danger of landmines is indeed extraordinary. Probably the most professional engineering unit sent by Chinese peacekeepers is the demining unit. The demining operations on the Lebanese-Israeli border alone have not stopped in recent years.

Nominated for the best foreign language film in Denmark at the 89th Academy Awards, "Blood and Flesh" (2015) presented a group of young German soldiers with a difficult and dangerous demining job on the beach. The head of these German prisoners of war was Captain Ebe Jensen of the Danish vanguard, a cold-blooded monster full of hatred. The person in charge of beach supervision is Sergeant Karl, who also harbors hatred for the Germans. The film begins with Karl's punching and kicking of German prisoners of war, which sets the general tone of the film's bitter revenge brought by hatred.

This "ice storm" type of extreme hatred is more terrifying than the shopping on the battlefield, because the harm caused by this inhumanity is the direct destruction of human conscience, and this is what makes the film deeply touching . For a long time, Carl treated them even worse than animals, beating and scolding them when he moved, not giving them food, and tying thick wooden bars before it got dark to prevent them from escaping. The problem is, they don't have to eat, they have to crawl out to steal local food
The feed for farm animals turned out to be poisoned because of the rat droppings in it.

During World War II, the mad Hitler laid 2.2 million landmines on the entire Danish beach for fear that the Allies would land here. On the beach facing this group, there are at least 6,000 mines, and each person has to complete 6 mines per hour. If the mine clearance is completed in three months, they can go home. This is the only hope that Carl brings them to survive. They have to fight because they have no way out. These young men, starving and having a fever, go to work. If they don't go, they will be kicked a few times after being insulted by Carl. Only when William among them is landmine
After breaking his arm and screaming, the blood was pouring out, which brought Carl the inner tremor that he had as a human being, especially when he heard that William had died after being sent for treatment. Come to the bread, then the relationship gradually eased.

The bigger touch was the emaciated twin brother. The elder brother died because he accidentally encountered a booby-trapped mine, and even the whole person disappeared. The younger brother Ernst cried and called for his elder brother. Just after he rescued the little girl who accidentally broke into the minefield, he went straight to the minefield. He couldn't live without his brother, thinking that he would be with his brother, and only when he disappeared would he be able to see it.

In this way Ernst also disappeared, disappeared into this beautiful beach. But there are countless deadly landmines hidden between 15 cm and 20 cm under the sand. Even if the mine is in transit, it will explode because of a small impact. The death of these German prisoners of war one by one touched Karl deeply, but it was not as painful as the death of his pet dog. He was hysterical, and let the remaining German boys lined up and walked off the beach one by one. But, didn't you say that all of them are finished? Why is there still more? The strong shock of this scene is a stinging pain, and it is also unacceptable. This is clearly a minefield of life!

The film focuses on depicting the images of German prisoners of war Sebastian and the twins, who are weak but full of eagerness to return home in the future, which is unforgettable. They were caught up in the war launched by the madman, and they were trapped in the quagmire and could not extricate themselves. What was the head of this vast minefield. But Carl was still a man, he kept his word, and he was furious when his fascist boss asked the 4 guys to stay and clear the mines. For the only remaining fruit, he must keep his promise as a man's dignity. So, on the way to the new minefield, he drove to the border and let him go
come down. He pointed to the front and said that it is only 500 meters away from Germany, so hurry up and go
.

The end of the film reflects the final return of human nature. If the darkness continues to the end, it may not be a good ending. As said in the film, the future is just a fantasy of death, but human beings always have to keep a little light for themselves, otherwise, life is better than death.

People, in the face of nations and wars, are but tools.

Anti-war theme. Whether it is the victims of the war or the perpetrators, they will all suffer the pain of the war. These teenagers used their flesh and blood to dig out tens of millions of remaining landmines with their bare hands. In the latter part of World War II, most of the Germans who participated in the war were young people. They shouldn't have to endure these hardships. It was really frightening to watch the teenagers who were blown up on the beach. The karma created by the Nazis still had to be repaid by the Germanic nation, and I admired the attitude and perseverance of the Germans very much.
