"Game of Thrones" Part 2: Geography and History...for non-original parties

To reiterate, everything I write is based on the Game of Thrones TV series and not the original A Song of Ice and Fire. If you really need to use the background knowledge of "ice and fire", I will prompt and explain.
This is the geography and history of Game of Thrones. Because the TV series cannot be as detailed as the novel and even come with a map to explain the geography and history of the story, the TV series still manages to let the audience understand where the story takes place. The title of "Game of Thrones" is about this!
Attentive viewers will find that the title of each episode of each season is different. The title of "Game of Thrones" is intentionally designed as an active Lego building block, showing the audience where the story takes place from a bird's-eye view, such as the first one. At the beginning of the season, there are King's Landing, Winterfell, the Great Wall of Desperation, (crossing the "Narrow Sea") Dothraki, the free trade city-state of Pantos, (back to Westeros) the Eagle's Nest City, and the Twins City. Each area has subtitle annotations (in English). As long as you watch carefully, you will know the main location of the story in this episode.
Except for another continent on the east coast of the Narrow Sea, the story mainly takes place on a north-south longitudinally long and narrow continent on the west coast of the Narrow Sea, which is Westeros. You can think of it like the UK today, just flip the England part to the right.
From the title we can see that the Great Wall is at the top, in the north, covered with snow, so we can speculate that Westeros is located in the northern hemisphere, because the further north it gets colder. A large area south of the Wall is the North, which you can think of as Scotland today. Winterfell is located in the north, which is also the first place name in Game of Thrones, followed by all the members of the Stark family: in a square in the castle, Eddard Stark's second son Bran is Practice archery, but always miss the target. The eldest son Robb and the illegitimate son Jon watch and laugh from time to time; on the balcony of the castle next to the square, Ed and his wife Caitlin are also watching, Ed encouraged Bran; Sister Mordan is instructing Ed's eldest daughter Sansa and youngest daughter Arya to embroider, praising Sansa for always embroidering so well, while Arya is absent-minded and the embroidery in her hands is a mess; Bran takes aim again , Robb told him to relax his arms. Suddenly, an arrow shot out from behind him, hitting the bull's-eye. Everyone was surprised. When they looked back, it turned out to be Arya, winking and smirking, so Bran went over the wall. Chase, the youngest son Rickon is laughing back and forth in the saddle... What a respectful and harmonious family.
Further south, the continental map shrinks into a narrow "bottleneck", hence the name of the neck, very similar to the boundary between Scotland and England today. Further south, the territory expands to the east and west again. There are mountains on the east and west sides of this place, and in the middle are three rivers originating from the north and west respectively, which are vividly called the "Trident River". From north to south are the Green Fork River, the Blue Fork River, and the Red Fork River. After the three rivers converge, they flow eastward into Crab Bay. The upper reaches of the Green Fork River, one of the three rivers, are two small rivers originating from the neck. The two small rivers merge into the intersection of the Green Fork River. There is a bridge spanning the east and west banks of the Green Fork River. The two ends of the bridge are Two identical castles, this is the famous twin city. The heinous Red Wedding (original title: The Rains of Castamere) in Season 3, Episode 8 takes place here, in the fief of the Frey family.
The flat area formed by the alluvial Trident River is the river land. In the first season, King Robert came to Winterfell, in the Stark family crypt, Robert and Ned in front of Lyanna's stone statue recalled that Robert smashed Prince Rhaegar's breastplate with a sledgehammer famously The Battle of the Trident took place on the Red Fork.
West of the Trident River, there is a riverside castle on the upper reaches of the Red Fork. This is Riverrun, the fief of the Tully family to which Eddard Stark's wife Catelyn Tully belongs.
To the east of the Trident River are high mountains, and the valley surrounded by the mountains is the Aylin Valley. On the top of the mountains is a steep "city in the sky", which is the Eagle's Nest City. In the first season, Caitlyn received a secret letter from her sister Lysa informing her husband Jon Arryn (then Prime Minister of King Robert) that Lysa had returned from King's Landing with her son Robin. Husband's fief Eagle's Nest City.
The west of the Trident River is also a high mountain. After crossing the high mountain to the west, there is a seaport and a city on the west coast. This is Lannister Harbor and Casterly Rock, belonging to the Lannister family (Queen Cersei's maiden home, which appeared in the first season) James and the little devil Tyrion are the fiefs of this family).
The territory of Westeros further south is the broad impact plain, west is the Reach, there is a city called Highgarden, which is the fief of the Tyrell family. The first season of this family is the Queen of Thorns. The eldest grandson of (the grandmother of the young queen Margaery, who has been married three times), Loras, known as the Knight of the Hundred Flowers, fascinated Sansa at the tournament held for Eddard Stark to become the hand of the king. The handsome guy who was intoxicated was also the guy who had a homosexual relationship with Renly Baratheon.
To the east of the Reach, the Heishui River flows eastward into Heishuiwan, and there is a city at the mouth of the sea. This is the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, King's Landing. During the War of the Five Kings, the Battle of King's Landing led by Tyrion and the Battle of the Blackwater took place here. You can think of King's Landing as London, England today. In the first season, Ed was brought here by Robert, and Ed's two daughters, Sansa and Arya, also came to King's Landing with their father. The tragedy happened, and the fate of the Stark family was reversed. Eddard never had the chance to return to his hometown of Winterfell, and Sansa and Arya were on the run.
From King's Landing to the south, the terrain becomes mountainous again. There is a castle on the east coast called Storm's End. It is a fief of King Robert's family. It is inherited by his third brother Renly, so Renly is also called the Duke of Storm's End. .
Further south, at the southernmost tip of Westeros, is the Dorne Territory, the fief of the Martell family, which consists of a large area of desert. When the army of Stannis was overrunning the territory and the army came to King's Landing, in the marriage strategy planned by Tyrion, the place where Cersei's daughter Princess Myrcella was sent was Dorne. Prince Oberon, the red serpent who later came to King's Landing on behalf of Prince Doran to attend the wedding of King Joffrey and Margaery, was from Dorne. Later, James, who lost his right hand, went to Dorne to find his biological daughter.
Above, the landscape of Westeros and the situation of each family's territory are like this. It is also necessary to mention the offshore islands. The capital of the Seven Kingdoms is on the verge of Heishuiwan. From Heishuiwan to the east, it needs to pass through several small islands, one of which is the famous Longshi Island. Stannis Baratheon (Robert's second brother) who appeared in the first season is from here to form a fleet to attack King's Landing. It is also here that the red-robed woman Melisandre first appeared. And later we also know that Daenerys, the Targaryen family known as "Born by the Storm", was born on this island.
On the sea west of the narrowest part of the aforementioned Westeros "Neck", there is an iron archipelago consisting of a series of islands. Edd, a member of the Stark family, appeared in the first episode of the first season. The adopted son Theon Greyjoy (later ravaged by the little skinny Rams Bolton) is the only surviving son of Balon Greyjoy, the Lord of the Iron Islands who surrendered to the Stark family.
There is another place, it must also be mentioned that on the east coast of the Ayrin Valley, there is a fjord coastal landform similar to Norway, named Wuzhi Peninsula because of its shape like the open fingers. One of the important figures in Game of Thrones, Earl Petyr Baelish (Robert's Chancellor of the Exchequer) is from the "Little Finger" in the Five Fingers Peninsula, hence the name "Little Finger".
There is a small island off the southwest coast of Dorne, called Qingting Island, which produces high-quality wine. In the first season, Daenerys was nearly poisoned, and the assassin sent by King's Landing wanted to use the poisoned Qingting Island wine to kill the dragon girl (the three dragons were still dragon eggs, so they were not dragon mothers).
To the southeast of Westeros is the Narrow Sea, and to the east of the Narrow Sea is another continent. The Tis family is in Pentos), Braavos (the House of Black and White that Arya went to according to Jaqen Hegar's guidance is in Braavos), the Dothraki steppe, the slave city-state (Asta Bo, Yunkai, Meereen), the ruins of Valyria, the land of shadows, Asshai, etc. are all on this eastern continent relative to Westeros.
It is hoped that through the above text description, the audience of Game of Thrones who are not from the original party can have a general geographical concept. I will continue to talk about family and personal relationships in my third article. (to be continued)
