There is only one kind of person who can enjoy the real freedom of the emotional world. To borrow Godard's dialogue "Grief or nothing, which one do you choose" in "À bout de souffle", the person who chooses the latter can, but only in form, Catherine is the best proof that the freedom she wanted after being tortured for a lifetime by her curiosity and desire to conquer all men was finally achieved in a self-destructive way.
Truffaut chose Jeanne Moreau to play Catherine, and it's really not a likable character, she's old, narcissistic, and neurotic, and I never felt the same way about Jules and Jim. I am also fortunate that this case of being destroyed by curiosity will not cause too much regret and sigh in my viewing experience.
Curiosity is destroyed by curiosity. After thinking about it, you are not afraid to die before you play.
