[Zu Yuzhan] I can't understand the evaluation of "this is a love movie" at all, love is only part of the story.
Truffaut's lens movement/lens planning is very good, which can give any viewer a visual enjoyment - it is worth noting that the heroine Catherine's clothing changes over a 25-year time span, which are very close to fashion, and the silhouette is small. The decorative details are very solid.
I say it's not a romance, but in the romance I understand, all the stories revolve around the push and pull of power between the protagonists and the progress of the relationship after deepening understanding. But there is actually none in this film. The director's perspective is very detached, and he uses a lot of narration and camera changes to show his sense of existence. What he wants to do is close to describing a state, whether it is Zu Zhan or Catherine.
And, the protagonist of this story is Zu and Zhan, a German and a Frenchman, friendship in the middle of World War I and World War II - anyway, especially in the 1960s, it is difficult not to anthropomorphize the country / the individual of the national under the war Choose to think.
