There is not a single image in the film that is not beautiful, but there are too many. The nature of sex is the theme of Ang Lee's film. He was very sincere in showing this. The film's full nudity avoids some of the embarrassment common in similar scenes, allowing the couples in the film to fully display those vivid details. These scenes are not erotic for eroticism's sake, rather, it must be presented and seen in its psychological sense. While the underlying plot gradually emerges, the film deliberately creates those lazy scenes in order to create a wartime greenhouse atmosphere to reduce the film's rhythm. The movie is good, but it's a bit unacceptable that there are some excessive plots in it
