The ending is very different

The ending of the book and the movie are very different. The ending of the movie was changed to be somewhat like "Long Dreams of the Covered Bridge", each of them hid their love in their hearts and returned to their original lives. In the original, Tom was kicked to death by a wild horse, Annie gave birth to Tom's child, the child in the cradle likes to watch the petals fall on his cradle, and has blue eyes as clear as Tom's. Relevant people who are alive have more love and tolerance. I still prefer the ending of the original. When Frank was sorting Tom's belongings, he saw an envelope with Annie's name on it and sent it to Annie with a string and Tom's only handwriting left to Annie "In case you forget".

The Horse Whisperer quotes

  • Tom Booker: Is she going to be long?

Grace: Probably, she's on the phone 23 hours a day.

Tom Booker: What does she do?

    Grace: She's an editor.

    Tom Booker: An editor? Ah.

Grace: Just in case she hasn't told you, which she probably hasn't, I don't want to be a part of this. Okay?

  • Annie: I've never been on a cow farm before. It seems to me that the bulls have the best time. Just laying around the fields waiting for someone to come along and ask them to do their work.

Tom Booker: You get born a bull you have a 90% chance of being castrated. Served up as hamburger. So on balance, I reckon I'd choose bein' a cow.
