The predecessor of the film: a short film that touches the world under a rich world view

Zombie movies are different from traditional ghost movies. They have become popular since the fire of the PS game "Resident Evil" developed by Capcom in 1996. The theme is the virus and doomsday disaster brought about by human ambition, and the world view of this movie is also rooted in this.

In 2013, there was a 7-minute short film "Walking with Weight" about fatherhood. The film tells the story of how a man who is bitten by a zombie wife and who is about to corpse, how to protect the child on his back. The highlight of the film is not terror and despair, but the fatherly love and hope under the apocalypse. As soon as it appeared, various forwarding comments were made, and it became a fire on the Internet.

The director's sequel: more than enough but not enough

Today I am going to talk about a 2017 film of the same name based on a short film, "Bearing Forward", the time has changed from 7 minutes to 1 hour and 40 minutes. The director is still the original short film director.

1. What I felt in the first 30 minutes was love:

1. The wife was accidentally bitten by a zombie because she was looking for a gift for her husband. This is love.

2. The wife asks to leave her behind and protect their father and daughter. This is love.

3. The husband insists on sending him to the hospital on the map regardless of the wife's request. This is also love.

4. Because the car accident accelerated the process of his wife's corpse and bit the male protagonist, the male protagonist put on the countdown bracelet and took his daughter away, hoping that the daughter can find hope to live, this is love.

Second, the following plot is blunt and embarrassing:

1. The new role of the indigenous girl did not play a big role, and the character was weak and the motive was strange.

2. The greedy and violent fat man, as the villain in it, suddenly found that there was no logic in his conscience.

3. The girls who have known each other for less than a day, in order to save the male protagonist, they sacrificed their lives to block the gun, which reminded me of a domestic anti-Japanese drama.

4. Indigenous people use spears instead of guns to kill zombies, and focus the living on the open grasslands. Not to mention that it is logically unreasonable, and it cannot prove that they represent the hope of mankind.

5. The aerial photography scenes that appear frequently are not important to the promotion of the plot. It seems to be shot for the purpose of shooting, showing that my big Australia is really beautiful, and I have money for aerial photography.

6. There are at least 3 inconsistencies in the editing of the footage. When I watch it, I think, why did it suddenly develop here, did I miss something?

7. Zombies are not too fast and their attack power is not strong. I understand this, the cost is limited, and the theme of this film is fatherly love. But they still hibernate in caves and bury their heads in the ground like ostriches? This setting cannot be understood.

This film does not portray the father's love more deeply than the 7-minute short film. The performance of the zombies does not feel like a thrilling blockbuster. The plot of the characters forced into it is long and embarrassing. Many of the behaviors of the father after the bite are not wise. Undoubtedly downplayed the performance of the father's love. It's a pity that the director is the director of the original short film. Obviously, the director is better at expressing warmth, and his ability to control long movies is not enough.

In the end, the male protagonist who turned into a zombie became peaceful after smelling the fragrance of the female protagonist. When the indigenous people killed him again, I still shed tears. Because love has become his instinct, what a great love.

My brain hole:

If it's a movie I look forward to, I look forward to an expression of humanity, love and tenderness. In fact, at first I thought that the native was the little girl who survived in the future. She already knew that her father died in order to save her, and in order to repay her father's love, he used raw flesh and blood to keep him alive.

Or from another angle, let the father meet more people within 48 hours, reveal different human nature and thinking under the disaster, not just the villain as the highlight, this movie may be much deeper, maybe it can break through the simple family relationship love, to great love or the relationship between man and nature.
