dozen and a half children, packed in a van and went everywhere to sell magazines. Star (Sasha Lane) is the newcomer among them.
At home, Star lived a poor life with her younger brother and sister, who had a single, drunken father who would occasionally touch her. When Dad wasn't around, she sometimes took them to the trash can to look through the discarded food, a child from a poor family.
She meets Jack (Shia LaBeouf) and a group of children in the parking lot. He invited her to join them. She sneaked out of the house and followed them away. This is a group of wild children full of youthful vitality. Everywhere they went, they had to go to a personal home to knock on the door to sell magazines and then split.
They split up in the morning to sell magazines, chatted in the car, sang, smoked, smoked marijuana, and in the evening they drank and danced wildly. At first Jack took Star with him. Even though Jack's girlfriend is their boss Kristy (Riley Keough), the two of them are still on good terms.
They wandered around, passing the rich or the poor, or finding oil field workers with huge sums of money. See idyllic Midwest scenery along the way. Jack left them, but new ones kept coming in. In this way, she continued to go far away with everyone.
By the way, with such a group of naughty and mischievous half-boys, Christie's iron fist is necessary to suppress the formation.
A simple story, but the movie is still two and a half hours long. This group of children is a bit like the gypsies that used to be said to be wandering in caravans in Europe. Likewise, they all have to be a little bit of a mouthful, and sometimes a little petty. But the Gypsies have families, live in their own caravans, and here are all fifteen or sixteen-year-olds.
However, the protagonist in the story is Star, who has gone from a broken family to society after being confused and exploring. Her short-lived scorching affair with Jack, her self-indulgent nature always keeps her in constant conflict with Christy, and she ventures into a couple of cowboy mansions and a midnight oilfield worker date. This makes people sweat. But she has successfully overcome these hurdles. In the end, she finally settled in this strange little group.
She is not like most girls, indulging in beautiful dreams, ivy school or Prince Charming or something. When a truck driver on the road asked her what her dream was, she said she never thought of it. But a minute later, her answer was to live in a large trailer of her own, with many big trees and many children. It was a really down-to-earth dream, so she told Jack that she hoped the two of them would have a big trailer in the middle of the woods, a very realistic dream.
Although she spends most of the time sitting there with a cigarette in her mouth and a sullen face, she is actually a kind-hearted girl. When she entered a room and saw only a dirty and dirty room, three children, a mother paralyzed on a chair due to drug addiction, and an empty refrigerator, she should have thought of her brother and sister, without hesitation. She went to the supermarket to buy food for the children, and she still had the sympathy of the poor.
This is a story about a child growing up, but this is not a child we are familiar with. She comes from a broken family and joins a team that travels around selling magazines. Although it is a job, they are not very popular in society. About 20 years ago, Wisconsin had one such van overturned, causing heavy casualties, and there was a need to legislate specifically to regulate such a sales method. Before, though, door-to-door salespeople were a way to sell products. For example, McDonald's owner Ray Kroc is one such salesman (see my blog posts "History of the Great Entrepreneur" and "History of the Great Entrepreneur"). With the rise of the Internet, such salesmen are becoming fewer and fewer.
The film was nominated for the Cannes Jury Prize and the Cannes Palme d'Or.
Director Andrea Arnold brought her crew of salesmen to Cannes
. British choreographer Andrea Arnold won the Oscar for short film for this film, "Wasp (2003)". Nominated for the Cannes Jury Prize and the Cannes Palme d'Or for "Fish Tank (2009)" and "Red Road" (2006).
Sasha Lane was a first-time actress, and it was actually Andrea Arnold who saw her on the road and gave her the role. However, she was well-received for her performance in the film. She is not from a professional background, but the director can take her at will, not yet.
Shia LaBeouf is also a well-known young actor, whom I have mentioned in my blog posts (see my blog posts "Fifty Shades of Grey, Books and Movies" and "Fifty Shades of Grey, Books and Movies" ), he is the male protagonist in Nymphomaniac.
Elvis' granddaughter Lily Keough was nominated for a Golden Globe for the TV series "The Girlfriend Experience".
