"I'm a seasonal worker."
"What's wrong with you?" "I've turned a lot of people into angels."
A man with obvious mental problems was regarded as a murderer because of the death of the commander's daughter. He was identified as a normal man, and was forced to put his fingerprints on the confession. He was thrown into prison, sentenced to death, and faced hanging. The only witness was a deserter who was shot dead by the commander of the lieutenant colonel for attempted escape. The horror of abuse of power is evident.
Comparing the two films, the Korean version is fairy-tale romantic and the Turkish version is heavy realism. The Turkish version had a brighter ending, with a criminal hanging in his place, and he and his daughter fled abroad. But it's quite depressing to watch, all the plot developments are expected, and I still prefer the Korean version.
