I don't particularly like "Grave of the Fireflies", which was highly praised by Isao Takahata before, but I personally like this "The Tale of Kaguya Princess", because the overall style of painting evokes my childhood memories. Although it was painted with watercolors, I found a feeling of watching the domestic ink cartoon "Little Tadpoles Looking for Mother" when I was a child, so the feeling of moving came from the bottom of my heart all of a sudden. Well, I won't say much about this topic this time, let's focus on the character Kaguya.
The story of the film is adapted from Japanese mythology, so there are some subtle differences in the narrative, but the essence of the characters is still preserved. When I saw the ending, I had a sudden realization, "Ah, isn't this Japan's Chang'e?".
The story goes something like this: An old bamboo cutter, Sanuki made Maro, and when he was cutting bamboo, he found that there was a baby girl about 3 inches long in the bamboo joint and brought it home to raise it after three months. Kaguya's beauty attracted many suitors, especially the five noble sons. Kaguya asked five noble sons a question as a condition for marriage, but all five were stumped. The prince came to propose marriage when he heard this, but Kaguya told him that on the full fifteenth night, I will fly to the world of the moon. The heartbroken prince ordered the soldiers to burn the "elixir of life" medicine left by Kaguya on Mount Suruga, which was closest to him, and the mountain was named "Mt. ”), while the burning smoke is still flying today.
When I saw this story, I felt that it was exactly the same as our "Chang'e Flying to the Moon", which made me feel that the myths in the world are all in common. We saw that Kaguya was born out of bamboo, and our country's Monkey King was born out of a stone. These mythical characters with supernatural powers were born very unusually. Let's take a look at Kaguya's quizzes for the five noble sons. Those treasures are not what ordinary people can think of. They are similar to what kind of flowers and what kind of light they find on what kind of mountain. This kind of setting always reminds me of Portia's box in Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice", or some multiple-choice questions that appear in other European folk fairy tales, so this may mean that no matter where you are, your What kind of race you are, what language you speak, the most essential things in the human heart are all the same. For the part of the prince, it feels like "You Dragon and Phoenix", but thinking about Kaguya's identity, she is a bamboo, and if you use Pu Songling's writing method, she is a bamboo essence. We call her a goddess with a fairy-like name. She is Kaguya from the moon. It is impossible for such a magical character to have anything to do with ordinary people on earth.
The end is a statement about the formation of Mount Fuji. Here is another problem. There are many famous mountains in our country, and there are some folk legends about the formation of these mountains. No matter which country or scenic spot is, there are some legends and stories of their own, and some even have more than one version. This is really a very interesting phenomenon. How busy were people in the past? story, is this to prove to future generations that our country is very cultural?
But no matter what, I think that any story embodies a kind of feeling, and the story of Kaguya is the same. At the end of the story, the luxurious band of the gods took Kaguya away, and Kaguya burst into tears. Going towards the moon with an angry expression, we can feel Kaguya's yearning and pursuit for love, as well as the complex feelings of helplessness and regret when facing the inability to get the ideal love. Perhaps we can think that Kaguya came to earth because she yearned for the earth, and on the moon, yearning for the earth is a sin, and as a punishment, she was sent to the earth. Why did she have to go back, maybe it was because she had the original sin, and she needed to atone for it. The subject of this "crime and punishment" may also be our difficult choice between the real society and the ideal society "moon" and the projection of distress.
PS. This article is the final assignment of the mythology research class in the last semester of the senior year. That class was missing a few sessions because I went to Sichuan University to take the re-examination. I still like the teacher very much. Although the final score was dismal, I wrote a story that I liked.
