I understand that sometimes people can't help themselves, but if she doesn't even dare to try, then what reason does she have to pursue her own happiness? At first, I did feel that the ending was done too hastily, but if you think about it, it might be the best ending for Kaguya. She doesn't have the courage to enjoy life, enjoy herself, the only thing she can have is a dream. She can't be happy in this world, maybe returning to the moon is the best ending for her.
While watching the movie, I asked myself countless times in my heart, why did she give up? Obviously, the opportunity is in front of her. She can pursue the life she likes, the person she likes, but she doesn't have it. She chose to wait silently for the day when she was taken away from this world. I can't understand the idea, and probably never will. If she came to the world as an atonement, would she not be able to enjoy herself and life?
People live for happiness, dare to dream, why dare not to do? You can be happy, but why give up?
Happiness is not given by others. Kaguya's life in the woods at the beginning of the movie is happy—because the old man and the old lady took her to live there. Kaguya's noble life was unhappy - because the old man took her out of the mountains and gave her a life she didn't want. Kaguya's life on earth is not comfortable because her happiness is in the hands of others.
I think this movie is using Kaguya's life to tell us how we shouldn't live.
From beginning to end, it turns out that we have no reason to give up.
