For me who haven't finished reading "Grave of the Fireflies", Takahata Isao's narrative style should not be my favorite.
What Kaguya has been pursuing is freedom, freedom that is not attached to anyone or anything. Just like when she was a child, she lived freely in that small mountain village, with birds, flowers and beasts, everything was so harmonious and free. Weng Bamboo finally arrived in the capital and bought a mansion. The fate of Kaguya began to move towards socialization. Her only destiny was to get married and become an accessory of a dignitary and a flower for others to enjoy. So she needed to be a worldly princess, a princess with plucked eyebrows and black teeth, she lost herself. This is very similar to me now. I grew up freely in the countryside, but when I arrived in a bustling city, I was bound by some rules every day and gradually lost my freedom. Our ultimate result is secularization, and we are constantly being honed into a piece of iron, or slag, by the melting pot of society. But can all this be avoided? It's hard unless you're smart enough.
Kaguya is a person with a free soul, so her needs for the other half are also free. She hates those who have never met and just covet her beauty, and she uses wisdom to reveal the faces of those people. Seeing this, I feel ashamed. For the understanding of love, no, for the understanding of love, I may not even be as good as the five in the movie. They at least paid what they could for Kaguya, even though the end result was unfortunate. But, after all, it is a sincere effort. But what about me? No. Love that contains selfishness is just selfishness, just like food mixed with poison, it is just poison.
There was a scene where Kaguya shouted, "It's all fake, and the unreal me has caused all this tragedy." She did use her wisdom to drive away the five suitors, but also caused the tragedy of their lives, all of which stemmed from her unreality, and their unreality. Most of the ugliness in the world is caused by unreality.
In the end, she dreams of returning to the small mountain village that raised her and finding her childhood sweetheart, Shemaru's brother, but everything is not what it used to be. Shemaru is married and has children, and has become very snobby. Although it is not said in the movie that even if Kaguya is with him again, she will not be happy, happy, very simple, Shemaru's soul is already dirty, he is no different from the five suitors, just a suitor That's it. She has nowhere in this world to go.
Can we go back to where we were before? Can't. There is dirty air, running water, and of course not only these, people's hearts have become desolate, no longer so amiable and respectable. Can we go back to the past? No, because of the beauty of that kind of baby, you must go through arduous cultivation. How many of you can give up this colorful world? Disaster.
Kaguya finally returned to the moon, she doesn't belong here, but where should our souls go? Perhaps, that place is the pure land in our hearts that we have been longing for.
=================The dividing line at the end =======================
Before writing the article, I felt that life was insignificant There is no interest in life, just as Kaguya's life in the capital is full of boredom and ugliness, but when you feel that many things have their lives, everything comes alive.
