Recently watched a documentary-"Black Whale".
It is about the story of a killer whale named Tilikum. On the one hand, it is a star animal in the Ocean Park with countless fans; on the other hand, it was held for 25 years and killed three people during the period. The last one is its trainer.
Some people say that it is a carnivore because of its nature, and some people say that it is very pitiful after being held for too long. Through this documentary, I learned about the sadness and misery behind the Ocean Park Carnival.
The beginning of the story is a tragedy.
Twenty-five years ago (from 2010 onwards), a group of people was driving away a group of killer whales. The ticking of locators, the noise of airplanes, speedboat engines, the explosion of bombs, and the cheering and screaming of people forced a group of killer whales into the bay.
Adult male killer whales know what's going on. They voluntarily act as bait to lead whalers to a dead end, while female killer whales dive with their baby killer whales and escape to another bay.
But all this cannot escape the observers on the plane.
A strong young killer whale was arrested and picked by the buyer. On the other side, the adult killer whale outside the enclosure was reluctant to leave for a long time, even if the young killer whale had been loaded into a car and taken away.
Tilikum was arrested at this time. It was only 2 years old, but because of its huge size, it was selected by Orlando Ocean Park. It is smart, strong in learning ability, and soon became the star of the Ocean Park, bringing huge benefits to the Ocean Park.
Children who love animals, strange adults, tourists all over the country; there are also men and women who want to become trainers in an endless stream.
This is a carnival, a carnival that shows the friendship between humans and animals.

Tilikum’s former trainer has adopted penalty training for it: the
trainer divides Tilikum and well-trained female killer whales into two groups for training. If one group fails, both groups of killer whales Go hungry.
Because of the involvement of novices, other killer whales have retaliated against Tilikum. For a long time, Tilikum was gnawed by other killer whales from beginning to end.
It is isolated and wanders alone most of the time.

The joy of Ocean Park is nothing but a scam carefully created by the management staff.
They told the audience that the living environment of the killer whales is very good. There are not only breeders and medical staff, but also very wide venues for daily activities. But in fact, their daily activities are extremely small.
They said that the movement training of killer whales is because killer whales are smart and easy to learn, and they learn voluntarily. But in fact, trainers often use hunger training.
Researchers also lied: Because of the careful care of the breeders, the average lifespan of killer whales in the Ocean Park can be increased to 30 years, which is longer than that in the wild. The dorsal fin failure that killer whales often occurs, the marine park defines a probability of 20%, which is also lower than that in the wild. In fact, the life span of wild killer whales is equivalent to that of humans, and the occurrence of dorsal fin failure is less than 1%.
Even the three murders of Tilikum were concealed by Ocean Park.
The first victim was a hired worker. After being dragged into the water by Tilikum, he drowned like a plaything. The Ocean Park declared that this person was accidentally drowned.
The second victim was a tourist who sneaked into the Ocean Park at night to see his beloved star. After being killed by Tilikum, the Ocean Park declared that this person was a tramp and had mental problems.
The third victim is an excellent trainer. While performing in the stands, he was killed on the spot by Tilikum. Ocean Park claimed that the trainers did not follow the rules.
Everything is for economic benefit, trying to cover it up.
Because in the wild, there is no record of killer whales causing harm to humans. There have been more than 70 incidents of killer whale injuries in ocean parks around the world.
The excitement of the tourists, the self-righteous love of the trainers, and the input of the interests of the directors of Ocean Park constitute a carnival ending in tragedy.
As the Orca researcher said: Tilikum killed people not because of brutality, nor because of madness, nor because of ignorance of what he was doing. It is just frustrated, just at a loss, it is thirsty for freedom but it can't find the way to freedom. It either wanders aimlessly in the pool all day and all day, or it stays in a corner and moves.

The same goes for the trainers in Ocean Park. They chose this career because of their love, curiosity, and shock for the killer whales; they learned the inside story of the training and questioned their job; then they hated the career and the Ocean Park; finally, they were relieved and watched the killer whales. Swim in the wild, some of them weep, some are happy, and some are mixed.
"For killer whales, I thought we knew everything, but in fact we didn't know anything."
said a trainer.
I think I have established an intimate relationship with animals, which is essentially just wishful thinking of human beings.
Psychologist Victor Frank's parents, wife, and brother died in the Nazi genocide, and he himself was tortured in a Nazi concentration camp. One day when he was imprisoned alone, he suddenly wanted to understand:

movie "A Beautiful Life", the protagonists are father and son. Captured by the Nazis in a concentration camp, his father Quido did not want his son to be hurt by the soul, and made up a beautiful adventure story for him. Even when he was dying, the father did not forget to perform for his son.
In a harsh environment, people still have spiritual comfort, just like Frank has hope for freedom, and Quido has the sustenance of his son. What about Tirikum?
Nothing at all.
Arrested at the age of 2, and died in May of this year (2017). The 33-year long period was spent in a small, lonely swimming pool. It is not a dignified individual, it is just a tool for making money.
The documentary is named Black Whale, not Killer Whale or Tilikum, or something else. I think it’s because of the color of the killer whale on the one hand. Dark, dark is the human heart.
I vaguely remembered the afternoon when I went to see the white tiger in Chengdu Zoo 6 years ago. It wandered aimlessly in the narrow glass room. When I looked at it and looked at its hollow eyes, I was thinking: Is it happy?
