Nubi Ceylon is indeed a master, and a murder case that has been solved and the body is being searched for is also photographed with such tension. For a whole day, from the night to the next day, it not only keeps the suspense and tells the progress of the story, but also allows us to appreciate the coldness and emptiness of the Anatolian plateau, and at the same time dig deep into human nature.
The film is actually a symmetrical structure, half night and half day, which is a kind of symmetry; the theme of the film also revolves around finding the truth and burying the truth, which is also a kind of symmetry; in the night, the truth is constantly being discovered and then constantly being discovered. Negative, and the truth was revealed during the day but was constantly covered up; before the body was found, the actions of the two suspects were the center, and the rest were just a few words, but after that, the pursuer became the center, and the case itself took a back seat. back.
In this symmetrical structure of the film, the emotions are stagnant in the first half, pursuit, suspicion, forbearance, anxiety, tension and impatience, etc., all kinds of emotions are intertwined, the director slowly pushes the atmosphere to a climax, and at the same time Excellent control, bringing everything under the water, leaving only a few ripples on the water for the audience to guess and feel. We know that the person in the film is looking for the body, and we know that the two suspects are related to the body, but we don't know why they are looking for it, and we don't know why the person died.
The night when the group rested at the village chief's house was the climax of the first half. The director subtly showed and implied the relationship of each character, allowing their emotions to flow slowly under the calm appearance. The suspect finally confessed the case, but the most critical plot in the film, the director excluded the impatient audience. What on earth happened? What's the inside story? We don't know anything about it, until the end of the movie, we are just imagining the story behind it based on various clues and hints given by the director.
After dawn, the Anatolian plateau is very different from the darkness. The mysterious and frightening atmosphere has dissipated, and it is still the same empty and cold. The car lights and human voices in the dark night, on the contrary, make this place seem a little more popular. The apples fell from the trees and slowly rolled into the stream, which also filled the night with poetry. In the wilderness in the early morning, only the cold air is pressing, and the bareness seems to be unobstructed. In fact, everything is concealed under the boundless wasteland. The night may be more able to let emotions have an outlet, while the rest of the day can only be calm.
Of course, there was something unsettling. The body was exhumed on this cold morning and buried on the side of the road they repeatedly passed by last night. When exhumed, his hands and feet were still bound, and he would not be able to find peace until he died. The injustice wasn't the only one. When the suspect was brought back to town, he was angrily stoned by the deceased's children. When the autopsy was performed, more truths were revealed, which were quickly concealed, and everything returned to calm. In fact, everything is not simple, everyone is carrying a heavy sin in their hearts, and everyone is a sinner under the tenderness. Whether it is a prosecutor or a doctor, there are many past events that torment their hearts. Beneath this peaceful town, there are actually turbulent undercurrents and surging waves.
The results of the autopsy were startling, and the deceased was still alive when he was buried. The doctors and prosecutors who caused the death were well aware of it, but they chose to remain silent. Why are they silent? There is no explanation in the film, but there are many hints. Or maybe they were thinking of the poor child, maybe thinking that the dead were gone, and they should give the living a chance, after all, the inhabitants of this cruel insider town didn't know it. Or just because doctors and prosecutors feel that everyone is a sinner, and no one can prove their innocence and can only atone from the heart. In any case, the town is at peace, the sins are covered up, and everything is a thing of the past. Evil still happens in small towns, but still under calm waters.
The Anatolian plateau is still empty and cold, the town is still calm and the people in the town are still living as before, the undercurrent is still rolling around, and the water is still only rippling. People still have to be very vigilant, beware that the undercurrent will swallow them. However, if there are no undercurrents under the river, it is not life.
Note: I wrote some of this article after watching the movie, but I don’t know why I didn’t write it down later. I turned to this article in the past two days and finished it. There may be some inconsistencies before and after, and I am too lazy to change them.
