The movie itself is only worth 3 stars, historically worth 5 stars. But it has to be considered separately, just like if you can't sing well, it's not good, you can't be shortlisted just because you have a tragic story.
1. Mediocre sports inspirational films. The plot and characters can be directly guessed, and the idea is not profound.
2. A plot limited by historical facts. A mediocre inspirational film can also be shot with emotion, but because of the limitations of historical facts, the screenwriter cannot handle the plot so casually. "Path of Glory" abandons the drama in order to be close to the historical facts, resulting in insufficient accumulation of emotions. However, if you meditate, you will have emotions, and you may even cry. But the question is, why should I calm down for a movie? It should be the creator's responsibility to mobilize the audience's emotions. Your task is not to let me get distracted. You can't ask me to concentrate. It's that simple.
3. Although there are many slots, this movie is in line with the commercial formula. It is an excellent popcorn movie that can be mass-produced, just like the recently hit "Wolf Warrior 2": a seemingly macro theme + the simpler the better. Good passion + the more obvious the better setbacks + simple logic + smooth plot - the audience's needs are so simple.
