His name was Sally, a small Jewish man with sharp eyes and hands that were as precious as gold, and he was known for his special skills. The film particularly depicts the process of the birth of a genuine and fake passport in his hands, accompanied by dripping and hearty music and dance, like magic, and more like art.

When the second stop came, he could not escape the fate of being thrown into a concentration camp in hell. Fortunately, with his wit, adventure and talent, he saved his life. A few years later, he was sent to a mysterious place with fear, but was pleasantly surprised to find that the prisoners here were well nourished, cleanly dressed, and doing the technical jobs they knew and loved. It turned out that this was an important secret factory for the Nazis. They were called here by a group of experts in engraving, printing, painting, and finance. They were responsible for making all kinds of fake documents, bills, and most importantly: fake banknotes for the Nazis. .

The Nazi officers who led it believed that only by treating this group of intelligent prisoners like people could they make high-quality products. While threatening to take their lives at any time, he was polite and often gave them cigarettes.

Sally was entrusted with a heavy responsibility, and the officers seemed to have a lot of respect for him. When soldiers randomly beat him around the head, the officers would stop and relieve him: "Contemplation is also a kind of work." He implied that Sally, not everyone can live here. down, but as long as he cooperates, he has a chance to survive.

Soon, Sally made a breakthrough on the most critical issue, and they produced a high-fidelity pound. These pounds have even been certified by the central bank of the United Kingdom to prove that they are genuine coins! The prisoners celebrated the victory with the Nazi officer, who gave them a ping-pong table. They were immersed in temporary safety and comfort, from which a steady stream of pounds was being shipped.

Once, they overheard the news on the radio that Warsaw, the capital of Poland, had been liberated. They understood that the Nazi army was already collapsing, the economy was beginning to collapse, and that their pound was funding the devil, which would delay victory. The Nazi officers threatened them with making dollars as soon as possible, and if they didn't make it before the ultimatum, they would start killing them one by one.

They split into two camps, with Berg, who was unwilling to compromise, quietly resisting, while others desperately wanted to save their lives. Berg was beaten by the same child. Sally is the most critical figure, and all parties are fighting for him. Berger reminded him to listen to the gunshots and screams from the camp across the wall: the price of their safety and comfort was prolonging the pain and danger to the life of the same child. The other faction told him that he had been persecuted and that he must live here. They are all right that no one's life should be sacrificed.

When the ultimatum came, the officer named several people to be executed, and someone denounced Berg. At this moment, Sally rushed forward, took out the full imitation dollar he had just made, and rescued the few people.

One morning, they woke up to find that all the guarding Nazi soldiers had withdrawn, that the Allies had occupied the place, and that no one could take their lives at will. But the trauma they have suffered—whether physical, dignified, or conscientious—may torment them for the rest of their lives.

The Counterfeit Maker is rich in themes in its quiet narrative. Due to the legendary character of the characters and stories, the dangers and characteristics of the environment, the film has always been full of suspense, compact and tense.

The actor who plays the protagonist Sally may even be said to be ugly, but his superb acting makes this complex inner and outer silent character full of unique charm. Sally was originally a pragmatist and hedonist. He walked on the edge of the rules and lived a good life. He has the talent for painting, but he disdains to take it seriously, saying, "Just draw the banknotes."

However, he is a smart person, and a smart person can finally understand that people must have spiritual support, otherwise they will live a pitiful life. .

After coming to the counterfeit banknote factory, he protected two people in particular, one was Berger, an ideal communist. Although he did not fully agree with his approach, he always tried his best to protect him secretly. The other is a young painter whom he loves almost as his own child. This young man has suffered all the hardships, but still has an innocent heart. As long as he is not so hungry, he will immediately talk about school, painting, and art genres. Sally listened carefully, no more cynicism. What a precious experience to hear these talks in the midst of suffering.

The concentration camp doctor said: "They (Nazis) can decide who lives and who dies, these devils." Sally said, "I am the devil too." It is not God who can control the life and death of others, but the power devil. Due to his outstanding talent, Sally has a secret right in this environment. He can decide who will live and who will die in the two factions, but both factions are innocent. Therefore, this decision was a torment for him.

The Nazis withdrew, but a fellow inmate committed suicide with a photo of his relatives in his hand. What he cherished was not just this life, but a kind of perseverance and waiting. Through the fog of darkness, victory is already at hand, and death and undeath are less important. It is your choice to live alone or to follow your loved ones.

At the end of the movie, Sally came to the luxurious night scene with a suitcase of pounds, and a woman passing by made his eyelids twitch. Then he bought her for one night - she was a whore. When the woman was shocked when she saw the concentration camp markings on him, she stroked his humiliated lips with infinite pity.

The gesture warmed his heart.

The second time he saw her, Sally saw his peaceful life in his eyes. He suddenly recalled the words of his friend when he left the concentration camp: "Leave quickly and remember everything here!" Suddenly and deliberately bad luck, lost a huge sum of money brought out of the concentration camp.

From now on, he has to forget the past and draw a clear line with the concentration camps.

He came to the beach and sat alone, and a kind woman came gracefully, accompanying him, the "loser" who lost nothing.

No man's seaside, romantic pas de deux, Sally found the happiness of the rest of his life - he deserved it, he was a good man.

Postscript: The Nazi secret factory in the movie produced more than 120 million fake pounds, which was four times the financial reserves of the United Kingdom at that time. Think about the terrible currency! Now every move is four trillion.
