The whole feel of the movie doesn't match the feel of the original to me.
Hardin didn't irritate Tessa as much as he did in the original book. Instead, it seemed that the two met eyes from the beginning, almost kissed in 20 minutes, and went to the lake in 30 minutes. Is this still the good girl Tessa? In the original book, it took more than 50 chapters for Tessa to decide to choose Hardin. Hardin in the movie is also nicer than the original, not so capricious and bad-tempered, just a little sunshine boy.
I deleted a lot and changed a lot, but the screenwriter didn’t do a good job of laying the groundwork. The plot developed rapidly, and I couldn’t see Tessa’s inner tangle at all, and I couldn’t see Hardin’s gloom and fragility. The characters are too thin and even a little ooc. If you haven't read the original book, you might think that this is a simple college freshman girl who cheated at first sight, but it turned out to be the story of Truth Or Dare, but the original book is really not that simple!
Bringing the actor's face into the original book is the best choice. The casting of the male and female protagonists is really good, but the movie itself is really disappointing.
