classic growth story

A typical American coming-of-age movie. The estrangement with his parents, the war with his brothers, the conflicts with his friends, all kinds of troubles in the family and at school all tortured this little kid who writes a diary in a classic way, and the final result of the torture is still to complete his personality. Transition and redemption, self-awareness, and friendship. Timeless growth education film, under the novel packaging, but copying and reviewing the classics, it will not be too rigid or too abrupt. Let people who have seen it understand that they just watched a semi-adult movie (personally I think the sermons in it are beyond the understanding of "little kids", especially the metaphor of the cursed cheese on the playground), Rather than undergoing a serious spiritual baptism, it is easier. No challenge to established authority, just a retelling of a classic story that can never be wrong.

  • Greg Heffley: [looking at class favorites] The class favorites.

Greg Heffley: They're the best in their class. These people aren't nobodies. They're famous. They don't have to worry about getting a seat in the cafeteria, either. Check this out. There's tons of things I qualify for: "Most Likely to Succeed", "Best Looking", "Class Clown". They should just give that to me right now.

Rowley Jefferson: Don't you have to be funny for that?

Rowley Jefferson: Hey! We can try for cutest friends!
