To hell with the cheese curse

I have to admit that in this movie starring several children, I got back the feeling of deja vu, and in Greg's world, I saw the shadow of my youth.
In junior high school, Greg had nothing but his friend Raleigh, and he wanted to become the man of the class when he broke into the yearbook. From the first day of entering middle school, he has been trembling and looking for opportunities all the time. It's a pity that the little protagonist's luck is not very good. From joining the wrestling club and being crushed by his nemesis Patty, it became the headline of the school newspaper, to being picky about his friend's clothing aesthetics, which made him and his friend a joke, to putting his friend's arm on him. Breaking it secretly helped Rowley become a popular person, and when he "framed" Rowley, he finally lost the medal of the security patrol, and even his singing talent was buried in a farce. His friend Raleigh left him and didn't become someone who could eat at the table. After scenes of unfortunate farce, our little boy finally grew up. Before Raleigh admitted it, Greg insisted that he ate the cheese that had been lying on the playground for spring, summer, autumn and winter. In doubt and contempt, he said slowly: "I ate this cheese because I wanted to. Look how stupid our school is...wrong friends, wrong canteen table, wrong ass...all pointless, like this cheese...people who are tired of all this, come and stand with me Let's go together!" However, as soon as Patty's "Cheese Curse" came out, the crowd immediately dispersed.
In the end, it was Raleigh who stood with him.
I believe that in middle school, many of you and I were like Greg, with a cheese spell on your head, fear of loneliness, obscurity, and a desire to be taken seriously. We are critical of ourselves, we are critical of our friends, we hate this boring and contrived life but we are powerless to resist. We do everything possible to cater to it, to please it... In the end, we become less and less like ourselves. We loathe 'self' but pretend, obey, complain as always...
'cutest friends' Greg and Rowley's middle school must have been a rewarding year - found in the 'wrong' school own location. Yes, some things are a mistake from the beginning and we have been going around in the mistake to find a solution, how did we not know it back then...

Diary of a Wimpy Kid quotes

  • Greg Heffley: [smugly] You're way too smart for me Patty Ferrell...

  • Greg Heffley: We'll hide here for the rest of class because I'm not playing that game! It's not fair. He's got all the neanderthals on the same team. It's barbaric!

Angie Steadman: It's completely barbaric. This place is an intellectual wasteland. But it's nice to meet a person more interested in his mind than his body.

Rowley Jefferson: You girls get to jump rope. What are you doing hiding?

Angie Steadman: Avoiding the pain. It all starts in middle school, you know? You're not a kid anymore. The coddling has stopped. Kids are now separated by intelligence. The weak are picked on and girls that you've known since kindergarten won't even talk to you anymore.

Greg Heffley: Well, it sounds like you've got it all figured out so go back to your book.

    [laughs]

Angie Steadman: This place is a glorified holding pen. It's where adults put you as you make that awkward transition between child and teenager so they don't even have to look at you.

    [pauses]

    Angie Steadman: Hi. I'm Angie.

Greg Heffley: [Pulls Rowley's hand away] Great Story! We're going to go now.

Rowley Jefferson: Why? This is a good spot.

Angie Steadman: It's a perfect spot. I survived all of the sixth grade here and I would enjoy some like-minded company to get me through the seventh.

Greg Heffley: Is that the whistle? I think I hear the whistle.

    [laughs]

Greg Heffley: We need to go!
