the conscience of capitalism

With Sandra (Marion Cotillard), smiling and walking slowly into the distance, the movie ends and my aftertaste begins.

This is the second time I've watched a Darney Brothers movie. From "Rosetta" to this "Two Days and One Night", the two brothers from Belgium used their simple shots, simple plots, and life-like performances to cut the entire European society under the capitalist system. In the next fault, in the cross-section, the various forms of all beings are vividly manifested.

The Belgian-born Danne brothers made documentaries in their early days, and it was not until 1996 that they made their first feature film, "A Promise," which began to attract the attention of the international film industry. In 1999, "Rosetta" was a great success at film festivals, film critics, and box office. It not only won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, but also sent 18-year-old Emily DeQuinn to the Cannes actress. throne. At this point, the status of the brothers in the film industry has been thoroughly identified.

The 2014 film has many similarities with the previous Rosetta. They are all about the reactions of ordinary people under the pressure of survival, but "Rosetta" is about the alienation of the system to people, and a deep sense of powerlessness permeates the images. In "Two Days and One Night", people began to rebel against this unfair system and achieved good victories. It was very sunny and very inspirational.

Of course it's just against the system, that's not unusual, and many movies have done this. What I really like is that the people under their lens always have a kind of dignity in them, and this kind of dignity belongs to the most basic human beings, so that no matter what kind of injustice and predicament they face, they always have a good attitude to fight.

There are many kinds of dignity, including the dignity of a father, of a man, and of an athlete, which are not seen in the Darney brothers' films. What we see is the dignity of the human being, without any social role.

In "Two Days and One Night", the Darney brothers still chose the point of work. Work is a very life-like element, but it has a very special symbol. Inwards it is a matter of survival, outwards it is a problem of social system. Moreover, in today's wave of capitalism, work is often more than everything, love, family, ideals, principles. A sentence I often hear is, "We also have to survive, there is no way." To a certain extent, it is the most realistic portrayal.

Another very good point is democracy. The boss in the film wants to fire Sandra, not simply saying that you don't have to go to work tomorrow. Instead, her co-workers have to choose between a €1,000 bonus and her dismissal. The setting of this point not only directly promotes the plot, but also explores democracy at a deeper level.

When I saw this place, I was thinking about this kind of storyline, is it appropriate to move to China? The answer is obviously no, because the city where I grew up is an industrial area. My father and many classmates and friends are workers, including myself who worked during the summer vacation. I can say responsibly that in such a situation, being fired directly is considered a "good death". In many cases, the factory will rack their brains to find ways to deduct your final salary.

Of course, there are two small points, but also very well done. One is through the reaction of the father and son workers, revealing the disappointment of the two old people to the contemporary young people. The description of black Christian workers reflects the two old people's religious sustenance.

There are many such arguments, and the space is limited, so it is impossible to repeat them one by one. Film criticism itself is a peek inside the leopard.

Finally, I strongly recommend this film to everyone, "Two Days and One Night", this is a film suitable for everyone, college students, hawkers, workers, intellectuals, white-collar workers, movie fans, dignitaries... Its expression is very simple, and the inner drama The conflict is very strong.
