Grim Reaper's Narrative Problem

I don't watch many animes, but the basic online reviews are relatively high, except for "One Piece".
I still prefer Reaper. I still admire Kubo children's shoes. Compared with many animes, this anime is inherently more difficult than other anime due to Kubo's own setting - or Kubo's own ambitions are too large. In terms of narrative, that is, the ability to tell stories, there are actually the following difficulties:
1. The development background of the story is too grand: the world of mortals, the world of corpses, and the virtual world; and the author obviously does not want to only touch on any of these worlds. That's all, in every space, the author tries to make a story complete. This point, I admire Kubo's courage very much, it may be a big test for Kubo. Comparison: Although "Inuyasha" also involves the two development backgrounds of the Warring States Period and modern times, it is obviously based on the Warring States Period.
2. Completely empty, that is, the author must create a logical illusory world. The success of a story does not depend on whether it is reliable or not in line with reality, but whether it has its own logic, in short, whether it makes sense. For example, "Source Code", maybe its logic is correct. If you think about it carefully, it is understandable, but it is too brain-intensive for an audience. I have not seen a satisfactory technical post yet. From this point of view, Kubo actually did a good job, not too bad.
3. Because the background of the story development is too grand, the character setting is also very complicated. The author did not avoid the important and light it. Instead, in order to allow the story to develop continuously, he tried his best to enrich the characters as much as possible, but he often paid attention to one and the other. For example, I think one of Kubo's biggest failures was to materialize Soul Slayer as a series. Originally, it is good for materialization to be brought out occasionally by narration or story development, but once it appears as a series, materialization becomes a new image, and how to give each image a unique personality is another big test.
Multiplayer, if the author's narrative ability is not good, the most terrible result is that the characters overlap or become flat or even redundant. For example, if Orihime Inoue once played an important role as a prop in the virtual circle, then Ishida Yulong and Chadu are actually in a dispensable position. Without these two people, the story can actually develop as well. Going down, Ichigo was originally set up as a superhuman existence, and Ishida and Chato entered the corpse soul world for the first time and saved Rukia together with Ichigo. Someone else can replace it (just go to Urahara Kisuke. You can borrow two there), if Yulong is a bit of a personality, in fact, Chadu's personality is too flat. What's more terrifying is that the 13th division, please, there is actually no need for so many divisions. If the 11th division and the 13th division are merged together, and the sixth division is removed, there is actually no problem, right? I don't know why so many divisions are created. If it is just for the captain and vice-team to appear, in fact, many people don't appear much, such as the floating bamboo children's shoes, although I like it very much, in fact, there are not many appearances.

Personally, the grand narrative is really good-looking, and the four-person team is basically the main battle mode of Japanese animation. However, as far as storytelling is concerned, it is easy to unwind the line, and the author has already spread out a very large world system (in general, I think this fictional world is constructed very well, the transition between several worlds It is also relatively smooth), and also buried a lot of hidden lines, how to naturally close the whole article, how to solve all the doubts one by one, this is actually a very big test for Kubo. "Most Travel Notes" is actually an example. This story is actually very interesting, and I have always liked it very much. The characters are also set up to have their own characteristics, and the world view is not too much. The narrative of "Princess Jade Face" kept appearing, which caught the author by surprise. As a result, so far, the Gang of Four has not yet come to Xitian to fight with Red Boy & Princess Yumian, and we see that Red Boy's fighting power is now inferior to that of the Gang of Four.

This kind of hot-blooded film is actually very easy to fall into the stereotype. For example, Aizen & Bengyu are a bit similar to Naraku & Four Soul Jade. Ichigo's character who regards himself as the savior and carries everything on himself can't help but make people feel Think of the masochistic Kenshin Hiimura, and compared to Ichigo, who frowns every day, I prefer Ulu Ulu with a tragic Kenshin. In addition, Kubo children's shoes do not want to bring some love stories, it is troublesome, and it is easy for audiences and readers to experience aesthetic fatigue in the middle of battles.

In fact, the biggest problem of "Grim Reaper" is the conflict between the grandness of the story and the oversimplification of the contradictions of the story.

===================================================== ==
Recently I've been chasing "Gintama", and since Ginko often complains about the god of death, I can't help but want to compare the two a little, although the type settings of the two are completely different.
Personally, I prefer Reaper's consistent narrative that is easy to get caught up in. But the author of "Gintama" should be said to be a smarter type. This kind of overhead, the construction of this virtual world is completely subversive, and his construction allows his readers to read often and always new. If Kongzhi Tongshoe's storytelling ability is not too bad, he can draw Longer than Kubo. What's more, Kongzhi's cleverness is that the quality of one of his stories will not be affected by the previous episodes. If the story is not told well today, he can reflect on it completely, and then put a few completely irrelevant stories in the back. Well, the audience will come back. And although "Gintama" also has a lot of characters (of course, the number can't be compared with the god of death, even in the true selection group, there are only three at most four typical characters), but it can be used in certain episodes. Several people basked aside and ignored it.

Although I have talked so much, I still prefer "Grim Reaper". If the full score is 100 points, at least 80 points can be scored.

PS
I like Toushiro and Urahara Kisuke;
I recommend Kubo to let several of these characters die. Although it is too cruel, it is not beautiful enough without a tragic story. What I like about "Rurouni Kenshin" is that it has a lingering tragic beauty.

Bleach quotes

  • Zangetsu: [looking up at the sky; thinking] Ichigo... do you know how I hate rain? And it rains in this world, too. If your heart is troubled, the skies will become cloudy. If you grieve, it will rain ever so easily.

    [pause]

    Zangetsu: I wonder if you can understand... the fear of being rained on in this lonely world... To stop that rain, I shall lend you any strength, any power. If you just have faith in me, I will not allow any rain to fall upon this world.

    [speaking out loud]

    Zangetsu: Trust me, Ichigo. As long as I am here, you'll never fight alone.

  • Rukia Kuchiki: [seeing Claude in his 'stuffed animal' body] He's so-so cute.

    [Claude makes puzzled noise; suddenly Rukia grabs & hugs him]

    Rukia Kuchiki: [voice higher pitched] Ooh I just love him!

    [rubbing her cheek on his head]

    Rukia Kuchiki: He looks just like my Chappy!

    Kon: Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey! What's the big idea? I thought I was the one you loved the best! How can love be so cruel?

    [Rukia keeps cuddling Claude]

    Orihime Inoue: [sounding apologetic] You mean alot to me Rukia; but as much as I'd like to, I can't give you 'Claude'.

    [gasps; face suddenly looks serious]

    Orihime Inoue: We both want the same man; it's a love triangle!

    Kon: [jumping up & down] I wanna be in the love triangle, *too*! Here I was sure *I* was the fluffy, comforting character, when suddenly disaster strikes! I've been tossed out like an old shoe! Kicked to the curb! Sent to sleep with the fishes! NOOOOOO!

    [keeps crying as he roles around on the ground]
