Very arrogant! There is so much to say.
First of all, Hashimoto Shinobu's script is too bad, the narrative structure is amazing, interlocking, and the reversal before and after is shocking. The fallen warriors single-handedly dismantled the top fighting force of their family, and most importantly, completely disgraced the entire family, exposing the hypocrisy of people and the existence of the Bushido spirit of that era in name only. The foreshadowing of the lines here is admirable, and finally let the audience and the villain know whose Bushido spirit is the facade.
In that special period, the ronin's living environment has reached such a terrible state, which makes people sigh. The setting of this background is more powerful to bring out the power and value of pure Bushido spirit.
The setting of the ending really shows the ugly and hypocritical faces of big men and human nature incisively and vividly, creating a strong contrast with the setting at the beginning of the film, giving people a strong dramatic impact. Moreover, the film has a profound philosophical thinking. The occurrence of an event is multi-dimensional. People are easily shackled by self-cognition and make highly subjective judgments. This is a mockery of human nature. What is even more ironic is the vanity of people. After knowing the truth, he still insists on his own opinion for the sake of face, showing that he has no guilt for those who have been wronged and hurt.
The photography of the film is very stylized, and the positional relationship and composition of the group play are very tense, which further reflects the spirit of being surrounded but not afraid of danger and the determination to see death as if at home. The composition and scenes of the duel on the grassland are commendable. The vast grassland scene and the strong wind are very powerful (I wonder if this is the first of the emperor Kurosawa?), and the diagonal composition and unstable composition have the effect of enhancing the tension and setting off the atmosphere.
The overall sense of rhythm is also very good, not only thanks to the script, but also the director's control, camera scheduling, sound and picture coordination, capable editing, superb and layered acting skills, etc.
This is a movie worth watching and learning over and over again.
