My understanding of the first episode of season four

Those who say the captain deserves it too much? Isn't it bad enough for him to be bullied by his partner in reality? Even though it was a game he created, the main beneficiary was his partner. His partner could not only sit back and enjoy the game, but also boss him around. Because he doesn't know how to communicate, he is isolated by the whole company, while his partner can become a playboy, and he can easily pick up the girl that the male protagonist likes when he already has a wife. I think the deep meaning the author wants to express is to warn those who were originally pure and kind people to learn to solve the injustice in society in a reasonable way, and not to go to extremes.

In addition, regarding the rationality of the plot, I think it is understandable for two points. First, he has to consider two points when he is so simple as a CTO. Ninety-nine percent of the game is his credit. Just because other people partnered with him doesn't mean he's stupid, and maybe he's a genius who is unknowingly used by others who are addicted to his own world? Many geniuses are paranoid. Second, why is he stupid enough to chase a big ship with a broken ship? One must take into account, as soon as he entered the game and found out that he had been betrayed, he must have been furious. The sudden change made him lose his mind and made him unable to make a correct judgment. All he thought about was catching them, punish them and nothing else. He thinks that he is still the king of the game, so he naturally pursues them without thinking and analyzing with his head.

USS Callister quotes

  • Robert Daly: I'm coming to get you!

  • Robert Daly: [Furiously patching through to Walton, who is fixing the engine manually from the jet fader] Walton, you're going to pay for this.

    Walton: Robert, listen.

Robert Daly: I'm going to bring Tommy back in.

    Walton: Hey, Robert, listen...

Robert Daly: God so help me, you are going to regret all of this SO HARD!

Walton: Bob, I wanna talk to you here! I was thinking i should say... sorry.

    Robert Daly: [Beat] Go on.

Walton: [Breathlessly as he fixes the engine] You created Infinity. You're a fucking genius. I exploited that. I treated you like the golden goose and I got fat off the profits, figuratively speaking. And I was thinking, I should have appreciated you more, you know? I should have treated you better. Yeah, yeah I was thinking I should say all that.

    [Beat]

Walton: But then you threw my son out of an airlock, so... FUCK YOU TO DEATH.

[Activates the engine which incinerates him]
