Maybe my level of appreciation is limited, but I really don't like this kind of lengthy and emotionless landscape shooting scenes. It feels the same as the Hateful Eight. It's lengthy, silent, and can't provide anything for the film. Mission service and assistance.
The performance level of the actors is indeed very high, but unfortunately the whole movie plot is too long and protracted. It not only wants to express the corruption and predicament of the current society, but also has something to do with religion, so it is a bit confusing to watch.
The director provided a lot of details very carefully, but I didn't understand what it was showing. For example, at the beginning of the film, what did the actor want to show after he went out and turned off the lights? What do the whales in the last screen of the heroine and the whale skeleton on the beach indicate? What's the point of an abandoned church where a bunch of kids meet? Lots of confusion. . .
In short, I feel that this film can win the favor of Oscar, etc., mainly because of the courage to criticize Putin, the ruler of Russia, and dare to expose the various difficulties in Russia. Oscar may only be interested in the political color.
