The male protagonist is so kind. Even so, he will report the good news but not the bad, and still remember the Christmas card. For those we care about, we are probably forbearing. We do more than we say and are reluctant to say hurtful things, but we cannot avoid being hurt.
Finally, I saw that the male protagonist bought hot cocoa and asked for a big cup of delicious food. He also bought a donut and told his girlfriend that he shared his happiness with a stranger. I feel happy.
Reminds me of my favorite line from September: A long life was like a desert but an oasis grows under your feet.
