When "Empty Room" ended alone, only this sentence of English that can be understood but not necessarily understood is left.
This is not a movie that can be watched in an impetuous mood. It needs quietness and inner quietness. Just like in the movie, the protagonists hardly speak, but we can see their lonely hearts.
When the male protagonist pried open the door of a stranger and walked in and lived as if he had entered his own home, I thought of many similar episodes. Faye Wong in "Chongqing Forest" sneaks into Tony Leung's house, that's why she wants to understand, enter and change Tony Leung's life; in "Sunny Days", Xia Yu sneaks into other people's homes, mostly adolescent boys of curiosity and voyeurism. A movie more similar to "The Empty Room" is probably "Long Live Love", which is a group of lonely people looking for their own space. But why are they? There are 10,000 possibilities, maybe he is autistic but pursues excitement? Maybe he's just doing nothing? Maybe... But one thing is certain, this is a feeling of loneliness more than loneliness, an empty room, what he entered is not only an empty room, but an empty heart.
When two empty hearts meet and collide, they bind together in their tacit way. No language needed, everything went on tacitly, and even the separation failed to break the tacit understanding until they met again.
I don't think I understand "Empty Room", it's not in the category of what I can understand, but I like the feeling of loneliness that oozes out of it, and because of this feeling, I will never forget this movie.
The variety and speed of information exchange makes it rare for us to experience true loneliness. Even if a person is at home, the ringtone of the phone, the ringtone of the text message, the prompt tone of the QQ will ring from time to time... How much time can we have for ourselves? In "Chongqing Forest", Tony Leung would talk to towels and soap, but he was actually talking to himself. And how much do we communicate with ourselves?
Loneliness is not loneliness nor indifference.
At this point, I have basically digressed. I said that I didn't think I understood "Empty Room", but I just caught the feeling of loneliness in it.
Everyone has their own empty room, but the colorful and exciting modern life has made our empty room idle for too long, and it has already been covered with dust and cobwebs. It is time for us to clean it up.
