This one-minute conversation by the campfire makes me particularly sad. Is it because of the frail Mike or the premature death of River Phoenix, the rebellious Scott or the maverick Keanu Reeves?
It's all about the age-old question of who I am, where am I from, and where am I going. Scott's decision was very well played by Keanu. Maybe because he is not his real self, he can be very ruthless when he starts. And Mike's road, how long to go. . Is that house blue or green, and whether there is a trace of another person on the broken and confused face.
Whether it is Scott's rebellious youth in the film, or the actor River Phoniex who plays mike, they are as brilliant and short-lived as shooting stars.
