My beloved Van Gogh

The first time I knew that it was a movie that would be released in 2015 and was created for the 125 years since Van Gogh's death, but every year has passed, and every time I see the tweet of "Love Van Gogh", I will read it again. I hope it is the news of the release. , unfortunately every time it is a notice.

Today I finally see, those brush strokes, those colors, those friends before his death, those places where he lived, those pains... all brought me closer to Van Gogh.

Originally, I thought that the film only showed art, but the plot is actually very surprising. Through Van Gogh's friend and son, he brought out all these, from contacting the people he met before his death, to bring out the "truth" layer by layer. (Maybe no one knows the real truth, but the result presented in the movie is perhaps the most acceptable)

Fortunately, although he was considered a lunatic at the time, he still had his brother and close friends who cared about him. Yes, focus more on his life rather than death. And shouldn't that be the case with the people around you?

The story is mediocre, and even though the entire film is painted in oil, it still has the inferior quality of a Van Gogh souvenir. The value of an impression painting lies in the reality of the painting, but the familiar star faces always remind that this is an industrial product, nothing more than a portrait of a star. I think it would be better to have a real person walk into a Van Gogh-esque special effect scene or animate the people in the original painting directly than what I've seen now.

This kind of thing can be played on a loop in the museum for the whole 10 minutes. It is fat and greasy to make it into 95 minutes. The death of Van Gogh was created into a "Rashomon"-style radio drama. Yes, it is a radio drama. After watching it for ten minutes, I don't want to watch the picture anymore. I can understand it completely by just listening to the lines. I wish all Van Gogh "fans" a happy viewing.

Loving Vincent quotes

  • The Boatman: And, then suddenly it was all silent, and he looked so happy that this dirty crow was coming close. He didn't seem to care that it ran off with his lunch. And, I thought to myself how lonely is this guy that even a thieving crow brightens up his day?

  • Doctor Gachet: Son of the great Joseph Roulin, giant of the South with Dostoevsky's soul. That's what Vincent called your father.
