Even so, I still believe in human nature.

[Spoilers] This is a movie that makes me feel depressed and angry while watching it. Even after watching this movie, I still think that human beings are inherently good. Even though No. 77 was stabbed at the end, he just chose to fight back with his fists. I think this is justifiable defense.

I attribute the birth of this whole tragedy to two incentives: 1. The initiator of the experiment who made a rule that was not entirely appropriate and did not follow the rule in the first place. The promise at the beginning of the story that the experimenter's life will be put first, and the termination of the experiment in the event of violence, is a complete lie. In this environment, not blocking is encouraging in a way. 2. Some people who are not mentally normal. Like Beres, I really hope he goes to a mental hospital. There was also a little golden retriever who tried to rape a homosexual (forgive me for not remembering his name). But I still think these are individual perversions, not human nature.

In fact, there are quite a few ironic points in this film, such as Berez's suit, such as the "forbearance" advice of the friend who actually sat in prison.

There's a lot to think about. But what actually scares me the most is the Stanford Prison Experiment that is very similar to this movie, and the real subjects are a group of students...

All in all a good movie.

The Experiment quotes

  • Nix: Expert in the penitentiary system, are you boy?

Travis: I just watch a lot of Discovery Channel.

  • Archaleta: Justice is what keeps us safe as a society. Ordered law.

Travis: Justice is what starts wars. And eye for and eye for an eye. It takes a turning of the cheek for this species to evolve.

Archaleta: Ah, so you're the one who knows what it's going to take for this society to evolve.

Travis: I'm just regurgitating what people have been saying for a long time.
