Liberal democracy is a dream

First of all, as far as a documentary is concerned, I don't like it very much. Many dialogues are too complicated, and the images are piled up one by one. It may be that everyone knows about these events themselves, and there is no surprise at all if they are reproduced in chronological order. It may be that I have watched too few documentaries, and I do not understand how good thing-based documentaries are.
Then there is the event itself. As someone at the end of the film (I don't know who) said, what we now call privacy is a representative of liberal democracy. If there is no privacy, where would freedom and democracy come from. In fact, I really want to say, where does the absolute power in this world come from? To put it more realistically, it is a sovereign state. When an individual faces such a body of power, how much privacy is there? The Snowton incident is that the United States slapped itself. It is not how much privacy and liberal democracy have been trampled on, but that the liberal and democratic theory that the United States has been advocating as a "representative of Western imperialism" is just a bunch of nonsense.
What is freedom and what is democracy, that is what the rulers give to the people under the eyes of the rulers. To be honest, the Celestial Dynasty is much more honest than the Americans on this point. I can tell you that what I give you is limited freedom and limited democracy. List those who have some or not. The American people, and even the Western people are living in a dream, wake up, what does personal privacy mean to the country, I think the key is not how much privacy the country has, and how perfect and reliable systems and mechanisms are to control it. For this information, the concept of privacy is relative to individuals, and there is no privacy for individuals in the country, and there is no democracy. Liberal democracy is just a dream. It is no different from communism. When it is realized, human beings may not be human anymore. It is purely a tool of American nonsense.

Many people ask me, why start again? I also asked myself, is it because of work? There is this factor, but it is not decisive. It wasn't until I watched the movie that I had a neat and succinct answer: safety. Friends in Xinjiang will feel the same way. When you are in a constantly restless environment, when all privacy is gradually revealed, as Snowden revealed, you will be afraid, and escape is the last option. Living in the present day, thinking carefully.

It was Jesus who was crucified, not Snowden, who carried the sins of mankind. They have the courage to expose all this, but unfortunately there is no way to change it. So this is just an episode, in the process of human society development, it is irrelevant.

Citizenfour quotes

  • Ewen MacAskill: What are you... tell me your thoughts, just where you are with that?

Edward Snowden: So primary one on that, I think I've expressed it a couple times online, is I feel the modern media has a big focus on personalities.

    Ewen MacAskill: Totally.

Edward Snowden: And I'm a little concerned that the more we focus on that the more they're going to use that as a distraction. I don't necessarily want that to happen, which is why I've consistently said, you know, I'm not the story here.
